Im replacing rear hubs on my 2008 MDX at 190k and figured I would freshen up the brakes with new pads and rotors. I have everything off and the rotor is free from the hub but won't release from the shoes. If I use a bolt in the disc to push on the hub it stretches the springs in the parking brake assembly but doesnt release the shoes from the rotor.

I had to use bolts to free the rotor and a new hardware kit to reinstall new shoes for the e brake on my TL. Was a pita.

There should be an adjustment wheel on the backside of the rotor. You need to back the parking brake shoes off the rotor before removing it. Use a flat head screw driver to move the adjustment wheel. It's a bit of a pain.

I tried with no luck. Only brake job that ever fought me like that and I have worked in a lot of shops. That was on a TL, wife's mdx was a piece of cake.
