more than likely it's the blend door motor for the driver, passenger or rear trying to move. YOu can replace them for about $40 with GPD brand which works well. There's a write up here on how to fix the motors at home too. Very common issue with these cars once they age.

Could this be the Evaporator Assembly? Anyone ever have this repaired?

It even happens when the motor is turned off.

The evaporator assembly needs to be replaced only if it is corroded and leaking freon. In other words, you A/C should not be cooling at all due to the leak. If your system is cooling as normal, there is no need to replace the evaporator.

Is there one of these motors in the console area? I've already greased the one under the drivers side dash. Is there also another one under the passenger side dash?

The main area I'm getting noise from is still the center console.

there is another one in the center console to control hot/cold air to the rear

I have the same problem. When is on and off the motor .
