good evening peoples!

i'm helping my younger brother upgrade the entire audio system on his 2007 Acura MDX (Sport) and

was wondering if any of you very helpful and knowledgeble board members could chime in and

provide answers to any/all of the following questions that we both have- we both work in health

care for a living and audio/electronics is definitely not our forte!

my brother is considering putting either upgrading all/some of the stock speakers to either

<b>MB Quart</b> brand or <b>Focal</b>

he's gonna keep the factory radio (with XM)- as it's the only thing on this audio upgrade that

he does not want to change...
<img src=http://caraudiomag.com/sites/default/files/images/00000/96/76/01_z_2007_acura_mdx_interior_view.jpg>

he also wants to turn down the volume on the wimpy stock sub (<i>i believe for '07-'09 it's a

not so powerful 8 inch sub that come stock- is that correct?</i>) and put a custom box in the

rear (to fit behind 3rd row seats) that doesn't take up alot of space and will house either two

8 inch or one 11/13 inch aftermarket sub(s)(<b>Focal</b> brand)...
<img src=http://www.focal-america.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/33V1-e1288033061576.jpg>

1.) what are the size of the speakers on the frontdash- under the windshield (<i>has anyone even

tried replacing these???</i>)

2.) what are the size of the speakers in the front doors?

3.) what are the size of the speakers in the rear (2nd row) doors (<i>are speakers even located

on these doors</i>)?
<img src=http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/AcuraMDX/Images2007/RearSeat2.jpg>

4.) what are the size of the speakers in the rear (located behind and above the 2nd row seats)

towards the ceiling of the MDX that look like 'cannons/bazooka's' pointing towards the front of

the vehicle? has anyone even tried replacing these particular speakers?
<img src=http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200905/2009-acura-mdx-95_800x0w.jpg>

5.) besides the subwoofer and the speakers i've already mentioned, are there any other speakers

on this car (07'-09' MDX) that i haven't mentioned/worth replacing?

6.) while my brother wants to add more bass to the audio system as a whole, he's not looking at

being the guy whose thundering bass you can hear approaching from a half mile away...do you

think that a custom sealed box with 2 inch subwoofers would be enough extra bass? or perhaps

one 11 or 13 inch subwoofer? (<i>he prefers clean, tight bass, so he's leaning towards having a

sealed box used- as opposed to bandpass, ported etc.</i>)

7.) right now we're leaning on going two <b>Alpine</b> brand amplifiers (one to power the

aftermarket speakers and one to power the sub(s)- or a single 1000 to 2000W <b>Apline</b> amp to

power everything and to be installed in the hidden cargo space hidden in the floor of the rear

of the 2nd generation MDX... <u>would any of you veterans recommend implementing a capacitor to

this system?</u>
<img src=http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/products/2008/500/h500MRPM500-o-1.jpeg>

8.) the only other option addition to this system that we're designing would be to add a signal

processor or something of this nature to 'clean up the overall sound'- do any of you think that

this would be a waste of money or are there good devices like this available on the market these

days?

9.) does it really matter what guage wire we use to hook this system up, i recently read

somewhere online that a minimum of 4 guage wire should be used in any decent upgraded audio

system...
<img src=http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/products/2006/211/h211PSK04Ri-f.jpeg>

10.) has anyone upgraded their front door speakers with a COMPONENT SPEAKER system? if so,

what's a good location for the tweeters? and were there any fitment issues on this vehicle with

regard to locating a suitable place in the doors to cleanly mount the crossovers?

11.) since the factory 07'-09' MDX (Sport) radio is gonna be kept/used in this system, is there

any additional component and/or piece(s) of technology that we need to purchase to facilitate

the use of the factory head unit/radio with all of the newly upgraded audio components (i.e. <b><i>JL Audio CL441DSP CleanSweep OEM Audio Interface</i></b>)? an RCA

cable- do we need this?...
<img src=http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/assets/ProductImages/JLAudio_CL441dsp.jpg>

12.) would any of you recommend adding either and/or both a capacitor & 2nd battery to this system? if i opt for a capacitor, how can i tell how many 'farads' would be suitable for our particular audio system?
Boss CAP30 (<i>30 Farad Digital Hybrid Capacitor with Blue Illumination</i>)

Kinetik HC600 600 Watt 12 Volt Power Cell Battery (<i>mounts near amplifier</i>)

thanks in advance for any/all of your input- it's greatly appreciated...if there's any audio

components for which i've discussed above, that you'd recommend not touching/mod-ing for either

difficulty in install and/or because the factory part is good enough, please feel free to let me

know please!!

i'll be sure to post back on the final results of this 2nd generation MDX audio upgrade

experience!!!)
