2003 Acura MDX -- Dealership Training Program

Acura has prepared training progam for dealership personnel for the 2003 MDX. The program evidentally consists of:

** A video (I have not seen this).

** A summary document (6-pages in length).

The document presents an analysis of the "MDX Image" prepared by a consumer research firm. The MDX does OK to very good in all the categories listed EXCEPT for the following two items:

** Rugged/Tough -- MDX got a negative score.

** Reasonably Priced -- MDX got a negative score.

Anyway, I'll post the brochure.

Great find srpbeb. You obviously have an inside source at Acura. Where/how did you get your hands on this?

An Acura sales rep shared this with me. Don't think it would benefit the rep to mention his name OR the dealership (remember what happended to TheRobSJ!!).

So ..... simply enjoy how Acura instructs its personnel on how to sell the MDX to us!!! This should provide some insight into:

** What Acura thinks about Acura.

** What Acura thinks is important about the MDX.

** What Acura thinks is important to us.

The document starts out with "For 2003, the MDX has been thoroughly refined. Overall goals for this new model were to maintain its best in class status and improve its competitiveness, while also enhancing the Acura brand image of performance and prestige. Addressing client concerns about incorporating leading-edge safety features were also key priorities."

Hi Srpbep:

___Another accolade heading your way for picking up the document clandestinely, getting the document scanned, and for uploading it to the forum for our review. I wonder where ASI? picked up all of this comparison data from. It is almost as if they spoke with a few 10’s to 100’s of current X owners to do the comparison. It is too bad they didn’t mention the Forced options or > MSRP issue that you brought up in the other thread as this really whacks the Acura image … At least Acura is taking care of that problem quickly by all appearances.

___What else do you have up your sleeve by the way ;)

___Good Luck and thank you once again.

Hey all,

Well, based on the info above, the '03 MDX does not offer the traditional traction control system...rather, Acura was referring to just VSA.

Thanks.

Very interesting but I had to laugh at the 'Prestigous' category.

Makes me think of someone going down the road, "Hey, hey! Look at me! See what I'm driving!"

98% of the population responds: "Oh, it's an Acura MDX! ..never heard of it."

Not knocking the vehicle, I sure enjoy mine, but those marketing folks are just a bit over the top.
