I have a 2016 and am looking for winter wheels. I have come across a few 17" off of Honda's that match bolt pattern and centre bore however they are 7" wide with 45 offset as opposed to the 8" 55 offset of the stock 18". Is anyone running 17x7" wheels on their mdx?

IMO I had a Odyssey in AK when I lived their and as long as bore and lug pattern work then you should be fine, as to the 7" and 45mm offset it shouldn't matter. you should go narrower in winter anyway so instead of 245 maybe 235 or 225 I'd go with which ever is cheaper. try to keep them the same circumference which you can use the discount tire calculator to see if they are same height or circumference. Call local tire store they should know off the top of their heads if it'll work. And if you haven't used the Hakka's try them they are expensive but never did me wrong. One note for safety they will not handle as well, but since you are from Canada you probably know more than most about winter driving. hope this helps.

I always looked fwd to putting on and then taking of my winter bling rims (black steel)…

I just checked Tire Rack and they recommended the wheels below for my 2017 and 2016 should be the same so you should be fine. I used studded tires in AK bcs they were allowed and it was icy a lot in Anchorage, the tires below are not studded. Again hope this helps.

I've run 17" wheels on many recent Acura's (TL, '17/'19 MDX), and they work well. The 7" width is maybe just a bit narrow, as you'll likely want to run a 235-65R17 or 245-65R17 to match the stock size range. Double check the specs on TireRack for the tire you want to make sure it'll fit in the 7" rim width. Typically I run 7 1/2" rim width in the 17 inch size.

For anyone interested I ended up with wheels off of an Accord. 17x7.5 with 45 offset. Fit perfect and bonus the Tpms that were on them work with the mdx. I think they are a good fit. I put the centre caps from my stock wheels on as well.

I’m surprised they worked. I have the same rims on my accord I drive as a commuter. They look pretty good a lot better than steelies. What size are you gonna use for the snow tires.

I went with 245/65/17 same diameter as 235/60/18. Michelin x-ice 2

I bought a 2011 MDX. 5x120 bolt pattern. Why did that do that? Seems stupid. They went from 5x114 to 5x120 then back to 5x114.

I looked up the size of those 17" rims and it says they are 5x114.3 the My 2017 OEMs are rim size is 5x120. I’m confused. What year is your MDX?

If you're asking me, 2001 - 2006 are 5x114.3, 2007 - 2013 are 5x120, and 2014 - 2019 are 5x114.3. The picture above has my Accord wheels on it. It looks corny but it works.

The 2014-2016 MDX wheels have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, and the 2017-2020 wheels have a 5x120 bolt pattern. It is a bit odd that they switched the bolt pattern on the wheels within the same generation.

By the way, the Accord wheels in the picture above have a +55 offset. I have the same wheels, and I use them in the winter on my 2018 Accord.

Acura MDX went back to 5X120 in 2017. The website I was on was outdated. So they all use the 5X120 bolt pattern now (MDX/Pilot/Ody and Ridgeline).
