Hello,
We bought a 2008 MDX with sport package on it, and the passengers front strut makes noise when going over bumps. Since it has the electronic suspension obviously a new strut isn't cheap, but I really don't want to go to the base model struts since the rest of them have been changed before we bought it. Doesn't anyone know where the cheapest place to get a sport strut is? And can it be done ourselves? It doesn't seem too bad now so might wait awhile before replacing but just wanted to see where to get one cheap. Thanks.

The Strut itself can be changed by ANYONE so your main Issue is to get it.
There was an extension to the ADS Shocks Warranties for these cars you might wanna check in your local dealership to see if it applies.. You can get them replaced for free if you get the warranty extension.

Does anyone have an idea of how much it would be to get the extended warranty? Car does have almost 200k miles on it so that could be an issue? Thanks.
You are out of the extended warranty mileage range.
It was under 100,000 miles and it expired in May 2017, for your 2008.

Acura doesn't sell their warranty programs (I think they call them Acura Care) for cars over 5 years old.

Third party warranty plans have fine print that recognize electronic damping systems (what you have) as not covered normal wear and tear items.

What's your level of auto repair experience?
It's just 7-8 nuts and bolts, but old suspension parts can be hard to undo.
Have you ever replaced rusty exhaust bolts or had to cut an end link out to remove it?

The good news is that you can buy the replacement strut "loaded", as a complete assembly, from Acura and sometimes forum members sell their used ones.

Yeah I figured it would probably be past the warranty. Yeah I think we could handle it dosent seem too hard to replace. Just need to find one that's not too expensive, used is ok with me as long as it's not going to go bad anytime soon.

51601-stx-365 is the complete loaded assy = $750.89
51605-stx-365 is just the shock/dampener = $575.68

Mostly shipping is the difference and it doesn't hurt to check shipping costs, from the following sites:

oemacuraparts dot com from Phoenix and our sponsor
acurapartsforless dot com from New Jersey

Check e-bay: I found macchurchill acura, in Ft Worth running an e-bay "buy it now" large bumper cover for my ITR, at the same discounted internet prices, with free shipping.
I called and the parts manager and he sold me 2ea front shocks (MDX), a wooden steering wheel (MDX), a wooden shifter knob (MDX) and the bumper cover (ITR) at 32% off MSRP with free shipping. 32% off is about what our sponsor offers, give or take a few hundredths of a point.
