  1. Well, that escalated quickly...

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Wow that Element has a ton of miles on it! Congrats on that :) As for the starter, I’d throw an off the shelf one in and call it a day. You could get it rebuilt and that would be great but it depends on how much time you’ve got. I’d love to go OEM, but yeah, the money for that is absurd. You...

Replace the starter! You’ve gone that far so you may as well. I’ve got 170k on my MDX and when the temps drop to freezing or near it I can hear the starter really struggle. It’s time for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My MDX starter is also slow and gross when it’s cold out. Dreading having to replace it but I also have an Element for back up. Mine has a V6 in it though [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Which bolt is the correct bolt?

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Well it usually comes assembled so it’s not just you :-D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Which bolt is the correct bolt?

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Yes #6 is the bolt you use a long wrench on to move the tensioner in order to put the serpentine belt on. If you plan on removing the belt, make sure you save the alternator for last when reinstalling it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Finally!! An Aftermarket 2 Din

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Nice find!! This could be great if it actually works. Looks like it may run the audio through the aux port judging by the mode set on the radio but I’m okay with that. Keep us posted! I would for sure get this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Rough start after dealer replaced timing belt

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Drive that thing back to the dealership and park it. Walk in and ask for the service manager. As politely as you can, let them know you brought the car in for major service and it was given back to you with problems that didn’t exist before. A timing belt job is nothing to sneeze at and could...
  9. Wet power steering pump

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
I’ll check out the color and see. Good idea about the wash, needs a good cleaning for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Wet power steering pump

I checked around the valve covers and they’re clean as a whistle! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Wet power steering pump

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Any guesses as to what might be bad? Wondering if that is enough to leak down to the oil pan. My car has begun to spot in the driveway. Not happy about that! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Squeal under acceleration

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Alright, I finally have my car back. They attempted to re-diagnose the problem looping in their Acura master technician. They put it on the lift, idled it, power braked it, listened, test drove it a bunch of times, but couldn't find anything other than the heat shields rattling. So in addition...
  13. Figuring out this leak (dye and black light)

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
It is non pressurized but there will be old oil in the bore. If you do remove it you’ll need to let it flow out, clean as best you can before doing RTV. Make sure to wait until the engine is cold and if you’re not taking the axle out, and only removing the bolt a little, you’ll want to get a...
  14. Squeal under acceleration

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Update, the tensioner and serpentine belt we’re all worn out. That was the noise! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Figuring out this leak (dye and black light)

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Here is a photo after I replaced it. There is RTV in the bore under the shoulder of the bolt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Squeal under acceleration

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Ohhhhh I never thought about that. I’ll have to give it a shot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Squeal under acceleration

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
I noticed a strange sound that started happening recently under moderate acceleration. Sounds like a brake pad indicator noise if I had to compare it. Has anyone ever experienced this? Hoping it’s not the transmission. I tried to get some video of it, you can hear the noise. Any ideas...
  18. Cracked intake manifold

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
Also it’s the intake manifold, so there won’t be an explosion. Potential for a vacuum leak though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Cracked intake manifold

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
The manifold is magnesium, so someone may have torqued that bolt down a little too hard or dropped a tool on it to cause that. The manifold is also sealed with some sort of sealant, so even with those bolts out it remains together. I don’t think it needs to be replaced, but I would get some...
  20. Noise when turning left

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
I honestly can’t elaborate. That doesn’t sound axle related. Sounds like the sensors on the transmission are reading improperly causing it to do strange things while turning slowly like that. Sounds machine like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
