  1. In-Depth Off Road review of the MDX

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
We tow a 25’ Airstream dry weight 5200 lbs GVWR 7300 lbs with our 2011 MDX and we have pulled our camper up steep gravel roads and driveways. One campground had a sign “Four Wheel Vehicles Only” and we would only get a brief spin of one wheel before the MDX corrected it. Love the SH-AWD! Sent...

Welcome! A few of us love the MDX as a tow vehicle. You can check out our thread on the Airstream forum called “Acura MDX towing.” Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Travel trailer recommendations?

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
In the past year we towed our 25’ Airstream on one trip of 6000 miles, another of 1500 miles, and some smaller trips. We did have reinforcement to our receiving hitch from CanAm, and it came with a Hensley hitch, but we have had no problems. Our MDX is a 2011 with the towing package. Sent from...

  6. Thinking about ditching Acura. What's comparable? Lexus?

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I get my maintenance done at Honda. They do a better job there and are closer to me. Also a little less expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What brand of tire? Thinking maybe a 2017 Q7. Heard that the 2019 model has the vegetable based wire insulation that mice love to chew on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We have a 2011 MDX with 125k miles and we use it as our tow vehicle besides our every day driver. The six speed with the 300 hp engine along with sport mode and paddle shifters has worked really well for us. We will be looking at replacing it in the next couple years and not sure what we will go...

We are towing above your specs but also use a Hensley Arrow hitch and the set up was done by Can Am of London, Ontario. They added reinforcement to our receiving hitch which made a big difference in the overall stability of the rig. Done right you will be fine! You would not need the...

    New Members Introduction
Welcome Chris, We use our MDX (2011) as a tow vehicle as well as our main every day vehicle. It has worked great as a TV and actually about 1 year ago traveled from Ohio to west coast (Pacific City to The Redwoods) and back towing our Airstream. Had a great trip! Safe Travels! Steve Sent...

    Second Generation MDX (2007-2013)
We started towing 2 years ago with our 2011 MDX. Biggest trips were the Ohio to Oregon/California coast and back last September (6000 miles) and this June traveled 1500 miles to UP and Wisconsin. We tow a 2006 25’ FB Airstream Safari (UBW 5200, GVWR 7300) with a Hensley Arrow hitch and expert...
  16. Tow my CRV with MDX

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I haven’t weighed them and I was thinking I might like to do that sometime. When we first bought the airstream we got it from Traverse City Michigan and towed it to London Ontario to Can-Am. We did have the Hensley hitch but did not have the reinforcement to our receiving hitch and there was a...
  17. Tow my CRV with MDX

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Oh, I have taken a whole lot of crap if you come over to the Airforums and read my thread titled Acura MDX Towing. Yes, it is over the recommended towing capacity of the MDX but these capacities are not based on real measurement but based more by government standards. At Can-Am RV in Ontario...
  18. Tow my CRV with MDX

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Are dry weight is 5200 pounds. With just the two of us when we travel it’s probably more like 6500 pounds. Our payload for the MDX is about 1100 lbs. We do have a Hensley arrow hitch for the weight distribution set up by Can-Am. This was our trip last September. Sent from my iPhone using...

  20. Tow my CRV with MDX

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Definitely feasible depending on your hitch weight. We reinforced our MDX receiving hitch to tow our 25’ Airstream. Has about 750 lbs on the hitch. CanAm in London Ontario can do this and will give you advise. Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
