  1. Sport Hybrid SH-AWD vs std. SH-AWD - on snow or offroad ?

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I had a 2015 AWD and now I have a 2017 hybrid. We spend the holidays in Minnesota every year (on the road back to AZ right now). Have driven both cars in winter conditions, mostly both with OE Contis. I can’t recall thinking that the 2015 was any better than the hybrid. I don’t notice much...
  2. Adaptive Cruise Control

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Disagree. I have had a 2015 MDX and now a 2017 hybrid MDX. I have had two BMWs and five Audi’s. The Acuras are light years better, in terms of reliability, and are every bit as reliable as any cars that I have owned in the last 10 years, knock on wood of course. Further, I can’t think of any...
  3. 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid vs 2011 MDX SH-AWD

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I have owned a 2015 AWD and and now have a 2017 hybrid. The performance of the hybrid is better - more HP and a better torque curve for normal driving situations. At high speeds the electric motors cut out and the non-hybrid version outperforms the hybrid. For normal spirited driving the...
  4. Erratic Fuel Pressure Reading

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Why would something like that go from not being a problem to being radically bad, just at the time that you put in a load of fuel that is directly correlated in time to the problem occurring? Makes little sense to me. Can a bad fuel filter, caused by bad gasoline, cause the symptoms you are...
  5. Erratic Fuel Pressure Reading

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Jeez, it’s a new gas station? That didn’t register until just now. I wonder how a new gas station purges the tanks/lines/pumps. Does the MDX have a fuel filter? It must. I have no idea where it is. I wonder if that could be fouled? More speculation. But a fouled filter might lead to...
  6. Erratic Fuel Pressure Reading

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I would be pretty surprised if the problem didn’t resolve with a change of gas. I can’t imagine that you drove the car long enough to physically screw it up. One thing that I thought of, as I read your comment about the 93 octane fuel, is that you can actually overdo it with octane if the...
  7. Erratic Fuel Pressure Reading

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Exactly right, and the point of my question. There are few coincidences. That this showed up soon after you filled up suggests that this is the cause, and it’s the place to start, rather than starting to replace expensive parts that are probably still fine.
  8. 2016 AWD with tech - mechanical issue

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Hmm. Interesting situation. Since you didn’t damage anything, it has to speak to certified pre-owened. Nearly every time I have ever looked at a certified pre-owned car I have found signs of bad or indifferent previous ownership, which led me to think that with certified pre-owned I would be...
  9. Sport Hybrid vs SH-AWD - high speed acceleration

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Front motor is inside the DCT case and I don’t know where it connects. I’ve had both the hybrid and regular 3rd gen MDX. Regular MDX is stronger above 80 mph for sure.
  10. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
. There’s something that I don’t understand about the CU-TrueCar commentary here: CU does not accept advertising. Taking money from a producer of products, whose products you are either reviewing or may review, creates an obvious conflict of interest with the stated objectives of the...
  11. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Ha. I avoided Chrysler products for over 50 years. I bought my first one, a 2012 Town and Country, as a last resort and only because I couldn’t find anything that better suited my needs. Turns out that it was as reliable a vehicle as I have owned, and I sold it to a golf friend who is still...
  12. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Agreed, we all get to express our opinions. If you want to take a pass on commenting on opinions that are based on obvious falsehoods, that is your choice. Not mine. My comment had nothing to do with my opinion of CU, which isn’t that far from yours - I don’t use it much anymore, as I believe...
  13. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
If you want lose your future credibility by posting beliefs and opinions that fly in the face of long established facts (see gomez post, above), that is your choice.
  14. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Well, to each his own. I take statistical data and professionally conducted road tests, albeit imperfect, as a decent indication of a vehicle’s typical performance - at least as useful as anectodal stories on the internet that are told by people who are often extreme in either direction. My...
  15. 2020 MDX Sport Hybrid vs 2011 MDX SH-AWD

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
We drive cross country routinely. If the winds are reasonable we get about 26 mpg on an 1800 mile trip, with highway speed typically at 75-80 mph.
  16. Acura Reliability

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I followed CU reliability ratings for over 50 years. Failure rates were so high that I used to base my purchase decisions on these ratings. I don’t buy cars this way anymore, unless I see some sort of glaring reliability issue. Failure rates and statistical differences are so low that any...
  17. 2019 MDX with Advance Package - Dynamic drive Modes

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I have the 2017 hybrid with 20” rims. I don’t have any complaints about the ride in Sport mode, albeit it can get choppy on certain roads. If you don’t like it, you might try taking a couple of pounds of air out of the tires and see if that makes it acceptable. You an easily run a bit low on...
  18. Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady or BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT tires ?

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
I’m sorry, I misstated the name of the Michelin tire that I was interested in. It is the Primacy Tour A/S, not what I said. When you say you’ve driven both, I’ll bet that you mean the Michelin Premier LTX. So have I. I replaced the OEM Conti’s on my 2014 MDX with the LTX. I generally prefer...
  19. 2020 MDX Hybrid Towing Capacity 0

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
Exactly my point. The DCT tranny does not like towing. So, don’t ruin a perfectly good sport hybrid by putting the 10 speed in it. Steer customers who need to tow to the non-hybrid MDX.
  20. 2020 MDX Hybrid Towing Capacity 0

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
F This is very simple, really. Anybody who wants to have an MDX and tow with it needs to get the standard MDX. Replacing the great performing, smooth shifting dual clutch transmission with the 10 speed would be a terrible decision on the part of Acura.
