I'm confused - you are quoting me about the glove box/console lights, but asking about the flashers? The only lights that need resistors are the four flashers, or turn signal, lights. The rear lamps are basic single filament, and aftermarket LED bulbs should just work, or possibly rotated 180°...

Saying you don't know the reasoning when a quick web search will confirm the reasoning is what, exactly? I gave a single link to a Tire Rack article, but there are many other reputable sources which I also read - no point in overloading the links - that also refer to accelerated wear to the...

Yes, you and the rest of us aren't automotive engineers (although I am an engineer of a different type). You are expressing an opinion, which you clearly have not researched for the facts. I don't mean to be rude, but it seems to me the reason the US is in such a mess right now is that so many...

If it is a full-size spare there really is no limit, although you would want to keep it down if the wear was much different. If you have a spacesaver then as little as possible: that is going to be really hard on the differential, and not particularly safe for braking or on wet roads. I got rid...

What is difficult is reading the manual on a 5" mobile phone screen, not getting the pdf manual. I do like referring to the pdf on my laptop, but in the car I am very happy to have a proper printed manual.

The owners manual indicates that replacing all four tires is preferred, but if not then both tires, front or back. I take that to mean that the most important issue is to protect the front and rear differentials, and secondarily the front/back differential.

Nothing to be sorry about - we're all just talking:cool:
  9. Replacing tires on awd

Wrong answer. AWD vehicles have complex differentials, with limited slip and clutches. One side turning at a different rate than the other will cause accelerated wear on the differential, and if you thought tires are expensive...
  10. Replacing tires on awd

I'm shopping now for new tires (Nokian WR-G4 SUV) and the quote included an optional "AWD insurance". What I was told is that it is not a problem to replace a tire if the others have at least 1/2 the tread life left, but less than that and they would all need replacing. The AWD insurance, which...

Best I can tell the MDX does not have current sensors, only current-dependent flasher relay.
  12. Brake light led swap

    Third Generation MDX (2014-Present)
The connection between the brake lights and the cruise control is unclear. By using LEDs the current consumption was reduced - no "bleeding off" of excess. What can be said with some confidence is that the addition of the correct size resistors would return the electrical consumption to the same...

That was not my understanding about transmission coverage - I'll have a look again and get back to you. It seems that there are actually multiple issues that can be described as "chirping". Clearly a warmer that leaks coolant into the transmission is going to mess up the clutch action, and that...

The resistors do not need to be mounted on metal - they have their own heat sink fins. I just did a search for "LED T5" on Amazon and found this: https://www.amazon.com/WLJH-Extremely-Dashboard-Instrument-Indicators/dp/B0798R76CR/ref=sr_1_8 A little more searching would probably find smaller...

bobby: exactly right. The resistors themselves are very small; the size of the aluminum heat sinks is determined by the requirement to conduct heat and transfer it to the air. A 25W heat sink is about half the size of a 50W because it is dealing with half the heat transfer. It is not going to...
