There's a thread here on doing that but apparently many people aren't very happy with the company that provides the function. Search this forum for 'navtool'.

The other solution is Naviks, which I used to have and sold to another owner here. But he is having problems with it now, so I'm not really sure there is any true long term mirroring solution from aftermarket. I'm still crossing my fingers that someone will attempt a 18+ head unit swap!

I cant imagine someone spending a couple of thousand dollars just to display their phone on their display.

You should see how much we spend in the Subaru community on mods then lol. In all honesty, junk yards will get the parts soon enough and the parts really aren't a few thousand, more like a few hundred. For example the 16 pilots have been able to swap head units for roughly $600. On the parts catalog, the 18+ head units aren't much more either, and we really don't know if there is an absolute need to change the upper screen either, so there may be some budget solutions here.

I think I sorted the issue out with my Naviks. Turns out the USB-C HDMI adapter I was using was the issue. Replaced it and so far so good. Anyone looking at Naviks should probably wait a bit for the their next release. They are working on a newer version.

Ahhh good to know! I'm so weary of all these companies (but way moreso navtool because they've been pretty shady) now even though the naviks worked just fine. Will keep watch for their new product if i decide to have mirroring again.

So back to the Naviks not working again. The unit itself or HDMI module must be no good. I think I am done with these mirroring solutions, not worth the hassle and safety issues. If we see some more Android Auto reviews on Navtool I'll get that. Otherwise live with the factory system for now
