Just came across a in new condition set of 2-piece wheels: OZ Michelangelo2 in staggered setup with silver painted centers, polished lip, 8.5x19 ET 40 and 9,5x19 ET 40 which if I buy them, would be using with 255/50/19 tires, just 1.8% speed difference compared to the OE tires on the 8x19 ET55 wheels.

Had a photoshop made (the wheels do show a bit too big due to the photoshop) but I think might look nice, opinions?

Would staggered be OK, can it cause problems?

I'm not sure you needed to post the same question in two forums but....

If your MDX is AWD, then you really need to use the SAME tires on all four wheels.

Same brand
Same model
Same size
Same wear

If your MDX is FWD, then staggered is technically fine. You'll be limited in how you can rotate your tires, which typically results in more uneven wear and tires typically won't last as long... But it does work.

These are the wheels that I finally decided on:
9,5 x 21 ET50 with 265/45/21 (tyres are a little too big circumference, speedo is 3% off, ideally should be 265/40/21)
These are a PERFECT fit

2014-2016 owners: Might be another OEM option to consider since stock rims seem to always get replaced and sold for cheap:

2019 RDX rims! Especially the A-Spec 20" ones. They are 5x114.3, +50 offset (we're +55, so these will stick out just a wee bit further than stock), and 255/45/20 tires (MDX 20" setup on 2017+ is 245/50/20, so this is a smaller rolling diameter than that and also the prior 18" and 19" setups of the 2014-2016).
