I bought a new buttons only portion of the 2007 Acura MDX key fob from Honda online genuine parts ($35 plus $7 shipping). I have seen on You Tube and here how to program a new Acura key fob via the 4 times on / off method. I have successfully erased my existing key fob data but can not get the "clunk" door lock sound to happen signalling entering programming mode. Of course I have tried multiple times and took the batteries out of the the key fobs hoping for a hard reset there. I did the press lock & unlock together to reset as well. Nothing works. Any ideas before going to a local dealer?
Don't have any suggestion on doing it yourself, but rather than go to the dealer who will charge you $100+ seek out a local auto specialty lock smith who will likely do it for less than $50.
I have the Tech, Entertainment packages. The part number is 72147-STX-A12. I ordered it after talking to them. The invoice says Acura of Peoria. The odd part is that the original fob will not program either.
