Illustrated Guide to 2007+ MDX eBay Accessories - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hodog16
This post is tongue in cheek for the most part, but I do think it's interesting to see what people have come up with for aftermarket accessories for the 2nd generation MDX. They seem to range from not bad to horrible ideas. Some are made for any vehicle, but if they are on eBay and marketed for the MDX I've put them here. Feel free to add any that I missed. Prices are approximate including shipping.

As a disclaimer, based on the tastes of those on this board, I don't think anybody will be offended by the list :D.

Chrome Trunk Trim Accent $30
Would look right at home if it came stock. I like the shorter version.

Rear Tailgate Trunk Chrome $25
Seems out of place to stick it on the edge, but subtle enough that it's not bad. Bonus points for using a Desert Rock Metallic X as the model.

Side Panels Chrome Belt Trim $30
Again, I don't think this would look bad if it came like this stock. Also can be placed above the body side moldings.

Rear Bumper Chrome Trim Accent $25
Again with the Desert Rock! Hmm, probably too subtle to make any difference. If you want to customize the rear bumper just paint it already :D

Chrome Pillar Posts $50-75
Seems out of place, maybe it'll go better with the 2010 as the black trim changes to chrome around the windows. Probably not.

Chrome AC Vents $23
Put. The. Chrome. Away. Seriously.

Carbon Fiber Pillar Posts $75
If this were real carbon fiber, it could have potential.

Front Bumper Bull Bar $230
I'm still laughing at the RX350 I saw last week with a front bull bar. The MDX doesn't fare much better.

Rear Bumper Bull Bar $275
The left double bar one is just plain awful. The middle one looks like a handlebar mustache, and the right one probably is the best of the three. If this is done I think the the bar should not run the entire length of the bumper. I know somebody on this board has a short one and it looks a lot better than these.

Aftermarket Wood Panels $400+
I think it's a little too bright. It replaces somewhat-fake-looking-plood with really-fake-looking-plood.

Dash Cover $28
If I bought this, I'd constantly be waiting for Xzibit to come around the corner and pop my shirt.

Line Vents, Aero Trim Bars $50
I shudder every time I see one of these stuck on a random car, especially the round porthole ones.

Brembo-ish Plastic Caliper Covers $30
Comes with a "poser" tattoo to be placed on the forehead after installation ;)

Angel Headlights $70
If it came stock like on the BMW's it would be a neat feature but more trouble for installation than it's worth.

Euro Shark Fin $16
Just buy a BMW already!

Lambo Door System $1100 + Installation
I'm counting down the days before elite-fusion or pierceman has this installed ;)

Painted Front Bumper $540
Recommended modification to the MDX, but $540 for just the front? Wow.

2nd Gen MDX HID Conversion Kit $130
I would LOVE to see the supply/demand curve on this one.

Flames!

Neon Kit!

Chrome Body Side Moldings.

Vtec Inside Sticker!

Drift King
VTEC Inside sticker is good for at least an extra 100HP...

scrapsz
MDX Sport is already fun to drive...imagine another 100HP! With that said, I'll take one of those stickers for the middle of my rear window.

kingmdx
Good for a laugh :2: :2:

To get the full 100hp effect that VTEC sticker needs to be big over the entire back glass and you need to put a huge ACURA sticker over the top of the front windshield :p something like this:

You know, I actually like the lighter stuff better, even if it is a bit bright. Reminds me of the birds-eye maple (real wood) that was in my wife's first Audi A6.

The gray plood is truly the cheapest-looking cr*p I've ever seen in a $48K vehicle.

I wonder how hard it would be to install the replacement panels, and if it comes in any other colors? (runs off to search flea-bay)

Hideous mods. There are some cars that need to be left alone.

i think I'll go stab myself in the eye with a pencil now.... with the exception of the carbon fiber trim and a couple of the more subtle trim pieces which are even just borderline, these are all horrific...

I like the short Chrome Trunk Trim Accent and Rear Bumper Chrome Trim Accent. Can't seem to find the rear bumper trim accent, could you PM me the info?

Also, the 2010 MDX has chrome trim accent around its windows. The ZDX and Audi Q7 also has it. I wonder if the aftermarket people will start making them. It'll look much better than the chrome pillars.

Actually there might be a way to get the chrome on the MDX for free. I'll check and let you guys know, many TSX owners and very few TL owners use this method....
