Hello, new to the boards... we went out to check out some SUVs yesterday, had no intentions in buying one until we sell my wife's G35 coupe. Long story short, the acura dealer we visited were helpful and gave us an awesome trade-in offer for the G35. Now we own a new pre-owned acura certified 2011 MDX with Technology package w/ 25k miles. Price out the door was $30,500.

We negotiated for almost 4 hours to get the deal we liked. The GM of the dealership even threw in the entertainment option with the car! Picking up the SUV on Monday!

I was in question on how they are going to install the entertainment option, the car doesn't come included with the package.. but for them to add in this option, they would have to change out the entire stereo in dash, add in ipod interface, and A/V inputs in the center console... along with installing the 9" DVD screen. Sales people claimed they can install all this in a day, looks like a big task to complete in a day in my opinion.

Has anyone added in a dealer installed entertainment option?

I have a 2001 Acura MDX touring. The truck has ~ 80,000 miles. For the past 2 years the information screen does not light up. Occasionally, as a surprise, the screen would illuminate and the all controls worked fine! When the screen was blank I tried tapping it to see if I got a response...NO. Thinking that it was the navigation DVD unit, I sent it to Alpine in California & they said they did not have the parts to repair the DVD changer. They also sent my check back! So I ordered a used DVD player from LKQ, installed it and the same mostly blank and maybe one or two times on behavior as above. On the possibility of this unit being defective, I then ordered/exchanged it for another unit. Exactly the same behavior again!! Recently I re-installed the OEM unit and my son just said that last week when it was hot outside, the unit worked again and then stopped!!! What is going on here?? I doubt the 2 replacement units were defective too even though it is a possibility. I've brought the problem up to my dealer and it appeared they had no diagnostic clue. PLEASE HELP !!!

Hey Guys. I been getting a lot of request on a formal guide on how to do the HID fog on the 2nd gen so I decided to shoot some pics on a clients car the other day and write this guide up for the members. This guide will be the "quick" easy way. If installing a relay kit, this guide will not be sufficient as that requires the bumper removal method. (Relay kits are not required as long as a quality HID kit being used)

*I am not responsible for any damage on your vehicle, do at your own risk!*

Car used: 2010 Pearl White MDX Tech package

Time needed: 15 min each side

Tools Needed:
2x H11 bulbs
2x Ballast
2x Mounting equipment
Philips Screw Driver

I will recommend 5000k to match OEM bulbs, we are using 6000K for this tutorial as I also swapped out the original low beams to 6000K for this client.

The HID kit I provide and is using is my own Automotive Radiance branded, 35W AC Slim ballast HID kit which comes with 2x 3M mounting tape and 2x bulb.

Feel free to use which ever Vendor you like, the essential things should be similar to what my kit offers + or minus a few things you may need.

NOTE: DO NOT USE 50W+ FOR FOGS unless you like melted housings, also do not use DC ballast unless you like replacing your fog bulbs every other month. You get what you pay for!

I have a 2005 MDX Sport trim with roof rack. The KBB and NADA values are pretty far apart from each other. The KBB private is around $8,000 and the NADA trade-in is $8,000 and the retail is $11,000. Assuming private is halfway between the two, NADA private value would be about $9,500. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, I seen a 2005 Honda Pilot (equipped exactly like mine) with about 5k more miles than mine in my area for sale and checked its value just to see how much more mine was worth for comparison. Well, according to KBB, it is actually worth more than my MDX by a couple hundred dollars. Oh, and I checked the KBB for my MDX if it was a Touring package and the value was like $3,000 more. I'm trying to sell mine, but I don't want to give it away! I'm confused, what's the deal here?

I purchased a 2001 MDX with 300,000 km the other day. The only other car I owned that had high miles like this was a 91 Civic which had 190,000 miles.
The MDX drove well and seller said he had replaced PS pump, alternator, battery, tires, shocks, brakes and rotors recently. Timing belt done at 170,000 km.
The same day I had tested a 2001 Pathfinder and later a 2002 MDX with 234,000km.

I have owned a 91 Integra, 2000 Integra type R and a 2003 TL-S before. All had been fun and reliable. I am hoping this MDX will be the same. I do notice the fuel efficiency is almost like that of my old 2004 Caddy CTS-V which had 400 hp.

With this MDX it seem to accelerate well and steering and suspension seem firm. The other Mdx I tested had bit of floaty feel. The check engine like was on in my MDX but he said that is because it wasn't reset at last service. The SRS light was on. I took the chance by not getting vehicle checked out first. I usually do the same with other purchases.

I plan to take vehicle in to get fresh synthetic oil change and have them check the cabin filter. Also replace all fluids as needs and have a quick inspection. Belt might be ok for a bit.

Anything else I should check?

Does anyone have any experience with using one of those rear-view mirrors that double as a back-up camera? If so, do you recommend any one in particular? I'm trying to decide on whether to get a double din screen to replace the factory radio which I can also use as a screen for a back up camera, or keep the factory radio, add ipod control functionality, and get a separate screen for back up (rear-view mirror type if anyone thinks they're any good).

After crying like a baby for the past two weeks w/o luck,

http://www.mdxers.org/forums/74-2007...-trim-off.html
http://www.mdxers.org/forums/74-2007...-row-seat.html

I visited the dealer today to try my luck. The verdict was about $40 for part and about $360 labor. This is not excessive by dealer's standard, but it still leave a taste of bitterness in my mouth. So I asked around again w/o luck. Well, like what they said in the old movies, 'for anything serious, ya have to do it yaself'. I decided to give it a try.

Since I was totally not sure whether I can fix the problem myself, I did not take any pictures after I figured everything out. So all my pictures are presented in a reverse order. If you want to try this yourself, you can start from the bottom.

The first picture shows you what the problem is.

Look at the grey part that the left cable runs through, it was not there when I took the seat apart. It was hanging in the air. Therefore, when I pulled the lever in the past, the whole thing moved a little, but the cable inside did not move enough to activate the sliding mechanism. After I put it back into the right place, bang!

The second picture gives you some idea about the location of the part. If you are good at this, this is the only two picture you need to look at.

Now here is my question if you can help. How can I reinforce this triggering setup so that it won't fall out of its housing again in the future? I have not put the seat back yet, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
