My Dealer sent me the following and will be placing his first order Monday. He got his allocation notice for my next orders. Monday he will be placing the first orders for 17 MDXs. There will be 16 and 17s ordered so I have to assume the 16s will arrive early June and the 17s will be late in the month.

That is all I know feature wise. The Forest Mist (green) color is discontinued and replaced by Black Copper Pearl (brown that is currently on TLX model) and the Graphite Luster is replaced by Modern Steel Metallic (slightly lighter gray color).
That is all that is listed about colors on the pre-allocation notice. I have to assume the others stay the same.
I am thinking to trade in my 16 MDX/Tech, with the 17 comes with all the cool features but I step back because of the same InfoSystem. (Slow and boring, this is just on my taste)
I'd be more hesitant by the fact that it looks EXACTLY like a Kia Sorrento.
Odd they're changing the graphite luster color at all considering it was the third most popular color behind black and white. Subtle difference but doesn't seem like they'd wanna mess with it at all.
That's an expensive way to have a car - lose all that money on the steepest end of the depreciation curve.
The 17 will have some features I would have liked to have had in my 14 and I don't doubt that 18, 19, 20, etc. models will add yet more features I wouldn't mind having - but I'm not willing to take a major financial hit for some sort of cool or desirable feature that I can manage without until I'm ready for a whole new vehicle because of this one aging enough.

That doesn't sound right - are they really changing the way back seat to a 3 person seat rather than the present 2 person seat?
I would do the trade for the 17 MDX if I liked the styling better and Acura Watch wasn't on my 16 MDX.
Sounds like your dealership isn't taking orders for the hybrid model yet? Do you get anything extra with the 3.0L/7DCT hybrid tech/adv models not found on the regular 3.5L version tech/luxury wise other than a hybrid badge?
The person who wrote the "Trim Details" that was sent to the dealer probably thought the MDX had the same 8-seating configuration as the Honda Pilot.
And it sucks that if one wanted an Advance trim, they'd have to get the Entertainment system also to get a 2nd row bench. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
I guess the Hybrid details come later since it will be available later in the year.
Here's what the press release actually states about the seats - I wouldn't trust wherever the text in the first post came from.
Advance models can also be equipped with two second-row captain's chairs and a center console with two additional USB ports, replacing the three-person second-row seating found on lower grades.
I placed my order last night with my dealer. He said the order goes in the end of this week and he will know next week Thursday if my order will be filled in the first shipment. I ordered a Advanced trim without entertainment. Apparently the Advanced with entertainment only comes with a 2nd row bench and the Advanced without entertainment only comes with buckets.
Do you know if your Adv w/o Ent 2nd row seats are heated (maybe cooled), what type of adjustments other than forward/back, and do they recline further than the bench seats?
they are heated (not cooled). I have not idea on adjustments, but considering the bench is adjustable (front to back) and has slight recline I would expect at least that much from the bucket seats.
placed order with dealer. No prices or options list yet. I will settle on the dealer options when they have them. Because it's a brand new model I agreed to pay MSRP. Assuming it will go up less than $500 from last years prices.
Are you sure you want to pay MSRP? We can usually get around $5k off MSRP (depends on the model) year round at the end of each month. Not sure if it's worth much to be an early adopter of a refresh either, nor am I sure that the 17 will have a substantial increase in demand from current.
Just going through a Costco, AAA, credit union, or similar arrangement can usually net less than MSRP with a participating dealer but I don't know if they'd do it with a vehicle that hasn't yet arrived on the lot.
I'm too cheap to pay MSRP and it's too easy to buy a vehicle for less. When I bought the MDX there was a very limited supply due to the third gen being new and there was only one dealer in about 8 I checked that had a blue one, which is what I wanted. I managed to get it for considerably less than MSRP.
You might want to do some more haggling - I'm sure you can get it for less.
There is no point in discussing this with someone willing to pay list for a car when they have no idea what the list is going to be. Besides, the salesman may get a bonus.
My dealer said yesterday he was going to order ten 2016 MDXs and four 2017 MDXs. He was allocated 2 FWD and 2 AWD Advanced. The AWD were going to be the suggested color of Dark Cherry Pearl since they might get delivered sooner(maybe in June). The new Metallic Brown color is delayed one month. The AWD Advance w/o the Entertainment Pkg will include the 2nd row captain seats. It seems like the Navi System will be the same and no Apple Carplay. The Hybrid will be about 2 months later.
I will most likely delay getting one until I see how the back seat folds down with captain seats and then how much extra the Hybrid cost. I may wait another year in hopes that the Navi System, Carplay and screen clarity are put in and will be as good as my wife’s 2014 Honda Civic with Navi. Maybe Honda is now the top of the line car ahead of Acura. I will be evaluating other types of SUV.
Anyone know if the Advance w/out Rear Entertainment (with the captains chairs) has the center console low enough for someone to reasonably climb over to get access to 3rd row? Similar to the Pilot Elite trim.
Seems on all photos I've seen so far that the console is considerably higher off the floor. I already know it's not removable.
At the press conference they spoke of it like it emulated the front center console in being an arm rest and storage cubby, so my thoughts are that what you've seen in the pictures is essentially what you get.
Nice job MDXSTANG on getting money off the MSRP. We both got our MDXs in June/July 2013. I had no bargaining power at all. I went to 3 dealers in Chicago and no one would budge. I ended up buying a car off the lot and it had a few after market options put on it, I could only get 50% off on that. I don't think many dealers will offer anything off the MSRP on the 2017 for a while.
I think that's very doubtful. Once the initial backlog clears of those pre-ordering a 2017 and inventory builds up, prices will drop down quickly. And far below MSRP.
It's a mid-cycle refresh, the fourth year of the vehicle. It's not the first year of a new generation. There are plenty of competitors out there.
Honestly, paying anywhere close to MSRP for an MDX nowadays is a poor deal.
Probably a bit different, since then it was a new model while now it's only minor refreshing. Plus the competition is a lot more fierce, with the XC90, Q7, and RX (for those who don't care about 3rd row), and even Pilot.
Acura makes a ton of these things and they will definately discount them once the inventory gets high. Wait till the dealership has 60-70 on the lot and they will knock quite a bit off. Another good idea is to go in x-giving weekend, I find salesmen are looking to make deals then to get some x-mas cash in their pocket.
