does the 2014 mdx come with spare tire?

does the 2014 mdx come with spare tire?

looks like it doesn't, but also couldn't see where I could add it on?

I know the RLX doesn't have one. Lot of manufactures going with no spare these days

Really? I thought the SH-AWD models included a space saver spare. I'm assuming you didn't upgrade it. Is it a steelie or a matching alloy wheel?

I'm very surprised by this.

I'm almost positive that the FWD does not come with a spare. The one I checked, AWD Tech, did come with a spare, but it's a steelie.

Just picked up a 2014 Advance yesterday. There is a steelie donut tire under the back.

Also, the 2014 manual talks about the Air Compressor / Patch Goop kit. In my 2014, the slot for the Air Compressor is sealed. My guess is if you get a factory steelie, no air compressor kit?

AWD is supposed to get a spare and the FWD model gets the tire repair kit. You can buy a spare from Acura for the FWD models if you really want one.

Thumbs down

I will never buy any car without a spare tire. Don't trust those inflator can at all! I know most plug-in hybrids don't carry spare tire anymore to reduce weight & save spaces.

Having a built in air compressor sounds like a great idea every car should have

With the FWD, what a bummer if you get a blowout. How effective is that kit that they provide? Can you buy a donut tire for the FWD as an option?

According to the sales guy I talked to, yes, you can buy a spare tire for the FWD models. In one of the other threads, I think someone was quoted around $700 for the spare plus tools for their FWD model.

For the earlier MDX's, rather than buy a new wheel and a new tire, you can buy a used full-size wheel easily and cheaply, either on car-part.com or on eBay. And the next time you buy any new tires, you can take one of the worn ones and use it for your spare.

Given that the 2014 MDX just came out, the junkyards that populate those listings won't have any used full-size wheels yet, but that's just a matter of time.

I don't know if a used full-size wheel from a 2007-2013 MDX will fit on a 2014, but it's a question worth asking. If so, they're plentiful on the above sites.

Thanks for posting that. As you can see, the steel wheel is cheap, but the tire that goes on it is very pricey! You might be better off buying a full-size wheel and tire; you'll pay more for the wheel, but less for the tire.
