Look, all I'm saying is the 2007 MDX was a dramatic departure from the the 2001-2006, but with that said, I'm glad Acura is sticking with a proven design/evolution of the existing MDX with the 2014-??? model.

And of course the X5 and Cayenne and Land Rover et al all look different than their predecessors, but to not acknowledge a common design language throughout the years is silly. The minute you saw the new 2007 X5, you knew it was an X5. I don't think there one thought it was such a dramatic departure from the 2000-2006 X5 that it was a Mercedes ML they were looking at. It was unmistakably BMW, just as the new MDX is unmistakably an updated MDX.

In conclusion, have your opinions, I'm just the old-timer now who posts every 3 years with the old junker of an Acura

Unfortunately, I really like it. I say unfortunately because I just made the last payment on my 11 with 15k miles on it. It sure would be nice not to have payments for a few years.

If you were to ask me which I would rather have, my 11 or the 14, I would take the 14 based on looks and the extra length. I think the 14 looks very sharp, and I have never liked the wheel arches on my 11.

I would rather keep my existing control knob instead of the touch screen. I really wish they would leave the A/C controls as buttons like they did on the new Accord (with navigation and touch screen), continue to have the control knob (which I think they will), and only have the touch screen as an optional control (instead of the knob) for audio controls and navigation controls. My wife's 08 TL gives you the option to use the touch screen or knob for all the audio and navigation controls, and I have always liked that.

I might just have to trade in my wife's TL. Or, I might just wait to see what the new TL looks like since Honda/Acura seem to be doing pretty well in the styling department lately.

I like the new design, particularly the front. Never liked the way my car looks from this angle - too pointy.

As to the interior, I expect it to look like the Rlx

Hoping they achieve significantly better MPG figures with the DI 3.5L and then I would maybe consider it used.

They manage 17/24 with the AWD brick like Pilot using an old school 3.5 v6/5 speed auto. I would hope for at least 2MPG bump in those figures. 3MPG increase optimal as teens are abysmal #'s.

Not sure why it reminds a little of the current Subaru Outback though minus the grill and tail lights.

Until they shed some weight, mileage will not improve much. Especially the city number. The Outback is substantially smaller. I considered getting one to replace my '07 MDX. I like that the Outback is lower and weighs subtantially less. But the Outback doesn't have 3rd row seating, which I need every so often.

I'd like to see more responses like this on this board, but after selling my 2004 TL I am unable to get passed Acura's ugly design as well as many other consumers

2012 TL facelift - revised bumpers - lipstick on a pig. AWD drives well but heavy for its engine. Car is very nose heavy now. Interior is a button nightmare and overall a step down from prev generation TL IMO.

2013 RDX - meh

2013 RLX - was bitten by an ugly stick worse than RL - Acura should be hiding their "flagship" car

For us city dwellers, we need to know the dimensions! How much bigger is it going to be from the the current model? Acura release the specs! If it is much bigger, I will go out and buy a 2013 today! I need more coffee...

2014 MDX...I hope they replace the Foot/Park Brake..it's ANNOYING! Every time I set on the park brake and someone is riding in the front passenger they always asked me "WHAT'S THAT?! "

I actually like the mechanic over the electronic, regardless of placement...

As someone who deals with tech support stuff all day long, I don't trust some electronic stuff sometimes. So, I too prefer the mechanical parking brakes. Not that it doesn't work...

WV recently went back from electronic parking brake back to mechanical setup.
Elec brake maintenance ran into $1000 and dealers had to use a computer to properly bed and adjust new pads.

It really depends on how you feel about change and acceptance. The acceptance part is that manufacturer's are trying everything to re-brand themselves. Look at Lexus for example, I know I bring it up often here and it may seem like I have some Agenda against them, but some of their cars are hideous particularly the "F-Sport" models. And I'm a huge fan of the Lexus LS460, IS-F, and LF-A.

Acura IMO is starting to come along with their recent designs, the RDX, RLX and now the MDX in terms of having that universal brand identity. I personally like the new direction. Less giant Shields and more aggression.

Unfortunately it's not for everyone but what car really is? To some, Porsches are beautiful, to others it's a glorified Bug. Some think Audi's are sexy while others think they are plain. Heck even I think the Audi A7 is THE best looking vehicle on the road today but to another guy it might just be ok. I've even had arguments with close friends about how they think the Ferrari Italia is ugly when I think it's amazing. So to each their own my friend, and maybe Acura just isn't for you.

The look is okay with me would like to see it in person to compare size to current model. I hope they come out with more color choices like a red color not just one but two. We have an 07 Ridgeline RTL in the family & when I picked out the color we went with Dark Cherry. Three of my other Honda vehicles were red/burgundy Acura /Honda are off when they do ext & int color combo they always have been this way.
But I like the look of the 2014 MDX if I can live with the look of a Ridgeline the new MDX will be a treat.

I'm ok with and even liking the evolutionary external design.
But the shrinking engine size was not expected.

I wonder if the gear lever will be the mechanic one we have, or if it will be similar to BMW-MB electronic one.
