Rear center arm reas cup holder- really?

My rear center arm rest cup holder stops broke (didnt get stuck) and I had to replace under warranty (they still make me pay a small pct) but now its broken/jammed again.

I think they said it was like 150 so now im going to have to pay for it all since my warranty is out. What is the deal with these cup holders. I have one 4 yo and she doesnt play with it. Its opened/closed only when we need to get two people in the 2nd row where the car seat is, and within a few months its broken again. I tried pulling it out to look at it but couldnt. Very annoying.
