Opinion on 2013 MDX
I'm about to purchase a 2013 MDX and i'm torn on which running boards or roof rails to go.
- for the running boards i'm between the Sport vs the Advance - for the roof rails i'm between the silver vs black The deposit i put down was for a graphite color Any opinions from anyone that got any of these accessories? Thanks |

For looks, the "Sport" look better, IMHO. For functionality, I'd go with the "Advance".
I personally like the chrome side steps, myself. For the R/R, keep in mind that the black ones are adjustable.

^^agree completely, I went with Advance boards and black rack, I have two kids and I believe they are easier o use for them, even though I much prefer the look of the Sport much better, I would have gotten those if my kids were older.
Not only do I like the looks of the black rack better, the crossbars are adjustable front to back while the silver ones are fixed. Sent from AutoGuide.com App |

I'm not sure I follow what the big difference is between the two on usefulness. The Advance and Sport seemed very similar from a utility standpoint, just different design/style. The side-steps are the ones that aren't as useful in my book (the tubes with just partial step plates). I went with the Sport because I liked the aluminum look on the Aspen White. I think the Advance steps look better on the darker colors.
As mentioned, the black bars have a lot more functionality and if I needed roof rails that's the route I would go.

We went with the Sport and black rails. We have two kids as well (3 and 5 years old) and actually had them test out both the Sport and Advance boards with other MDXs on the lot. Although the Advance offered more functionality, the Sport worked out fine for them when getting in and out... plus I also liked the Sport boards more.
As mentioned, the black rails are adjustable. Plus, I just couldn't justify spending 2-3 times as much more for the silver ones when I can use that money to buy other stuff like all season mats, cargo tray, and cargo cover. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I'm leaning towards the sport board; but still torn on the rack. I guess i didn't think that having an adjustable crossbar would make that big a difference. Do you really find that you need to adjust them when you use it .. or is it the kind of thing where with an adjustable crossbar you can get any aftermarket roof box and the fixed silver rack you have to get the acura box? |

But the silver look much much better depending on color of X and have a finished look to them, the black looks ok.
I have never had to move my cross bars.

Sports boards for sure. We also have two kids ages 2 and 5, they use it fine & so do we with no problems. The advanced ones are too big and can mess up your pants/dress. Love the look also.
Rails i would go with black, only because imo i think they look silly on the X. Its sexier without it. The more they don't stand out the better. Ps. I got the sport boards from an acura dealer on ebay for a fraction of the local dealers cost and installed it myself. Im a complete novice and if i can do it so can you with one afternoon free. |
