What hitch with Rear Garnish 2011?

Contact etrailer.com, they should be able to point you in the right direction

Thumbs down Etrailer

I would not suggest Etrailer in any way! I bought two hitches from them because they insisted that I was installing the first one I bought from them incorrectly.

When I got the second one it had a document saying that it would not work with a full size spare.

Bottom line-- It was a horrible experience that cost me two hitches. All due to the poor understanding of the products sold and it's true compatibility on the MDX. I promised them in email that I would make sure everyone that would hear me would know what type of customer experience I had with them.

Otherwise, I hate to say that after months of research and scathing emails with Etrailer, the best way to buy a hitch for the MDX is from the dealer. I got two quotes from local dealers, then had them price match BerdardiParts.com. Bernardi is the best way to buy Acura/Honda gear when you have the proper part numbers.

Good luck.

AFAIK, no hitch will work with the rear lower garnish. The only way to make it work is to modify (cut) the garnish.

Hitch

I can confirm that you can definitely use an aftermarket hitch with the Mini spare. I have one in my garage (for sale $100) that will work with the standard garnish.

BUT if you have a full size spare it will not allow the spare tire to be lifted into the well. OR if you have the reduced garnish that pairs with the Acura Tow hitch it will look funky as there is a gap between the reduced garnish and the top of the aftermarket (Non Acura) tow hitch.

You must order the smaller garnish if you plan to buy the Acura Tow hitch. I installed both Acura Hitch and Garnish with my 12 year old son. It was easy enough.
