Looking for help on 2008 MDX Purchase
Hi everyone,
My wife and I recently came across a 2008 MDX from a local dealership. The vehicle has 96,000 miles and after sitting down and negotiating a price we were offered the vehicle for $15,300. The MDX is fully loaded with the full tech package and running boards. My wife and I have never owned an Acura before but her family all own Honda's (2 Civics, 1 Accord, 1 Pilot) and we own 1 Civic. We know Honda has a great reputation for reliability and were expecting the same of Acura but because we have never owned one nor know anyone who has we would certainly value any help anyone has as to whether or not we are looking at a great deal on this vehicle. We have heard some people say they have problems with higher mileage, is this generally true? Please let us know if you need any additional info on the car as we are going back to the dealership on Monday to make our decision. Thanks! |

Our '07 and others experienced intermittent shutdown, as in the vehicle will stop operating completely. This apoears to be caused by the need for a new and fully fuctionimg battery due to the rather substantial electronic load. This appears to be the only longer term issue other than wear and tear for higher mileage.
You might want to ensure there are new rotors and brakepads, fluids, and suspension parts are checked. Same for routine maintenance. YMMV. Good luck. |

I'd want to know about all available service records. It may be getting ready for a new timing belt. Also the transmission should have been serviced a couple times. You should check with an Acura dealer to see if its up to date on all service records and technical service bulletins. It's a great used car but needs to have been maintained the right way.
The good thing is that you're already in the Honda family so everything should look and feel familiar and upgraded too. How does your price stack against kbb.com and have you checked it's Car Fax? Do some homework so you'll know what you're getting. |
