Navigation Unit for 2007 MDX

Hi,

My Navigation unit stopped working... No more display on the screen (but the display seem to still be powered as I notice the "backlight". I can't access any menu, all buttons have no effect, the rearview camera is no longer displayed also.

After finding where it sits (under the driver's seat) I think I found the cause: salt from the snow on the carpet corroded the unit to the point it stopped working. (I'm in Quebec, Canada, thus the snow).

I've disassembled it, cleaned everything the best I could but it seems the damage was irreversible..

So I am looking for a replacement. Acura ask 2600$ for a new one so I'm looking for alternatives

I've found some on ebay but the part # is slightly different than mine and I'm wondering if it would work.

Mine is (as written on the back of the unit case)
39540-STX-C410-M1

The used ones I've found so far are:
39546-STX-A41

Would this model be compatible?

Any other ideas for replacement or repair are welcomed.

Thanks,
Marcel

Suggest contacting ebay seller for help. They may know cross-over applications that work.

good luck

Check other sites for part numbers.

Marcel,

I found this site:

NAVIGATION SYSTEM - REAR CAMERA for 2007 ACURA MDX

They list a remanufactured one for under $300.00 US. I agree its a different part number than what you have provided, but I'd bet its the same.

I also searched your part number on their site and came up with this, still under $300.00 US:

DVD UNIT, NAVIGATION (RMD) for 2007 ACURA MDX|39540-STX-A41RM

Thanks for the link, I'll certainly consider this option.

That is customer pay? Is it the same a (RMD)? They are the same price.

DVD UNIT, NAVIGATION (RMD)(CUSTOMER PAY) - 2007 ACURA MDX (39540-STX-A41CP)

I think you send in your DVD drive as core and they swap it with a remanufactured unit.

$257.83 is still cheaper than sending it off for repairs yourself. New repair cost is $358.

The 2007 MDX I recently bought had the same problem - a rusted out navigation DVD drive under the driver's seat. Luckily I found it before buying and made it a condition of sale to have it fixed (at the time we thought it was just a bad DVD). The replacement is ready for me to pick up now, and before I get them to reinstall it, is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening again, besides using rubber mats during the winter? Maybe some type of spacer to raise it off the carpet (I haven't looked closely at it yet). Seems like poor design to place that drive there...

I pulled by DVD ROM under drive seat and it is in fully rusted. How many were able to order the 39540-STX-A41 and change the original for a refurbished.

Let me know how it went.

The CORE charge is 2000$.

Have the same problem

Hello Guys,

I guess salty roads are only Quebec's problem. I'm from Montréal and i have the exact same problem. And after dissassembling my unit, there's almost no doubt the problem comes from the corrosion.

Has anyone from Canada been able to replace the unit at a reasonable cost ?

I'm ready to put a total of 500$... but not 2000$...

Please help.

Titouenne

You guys need to get some good weather mats that have a good lip on the edge to prevent leaking under the seat...

I'd check under the carpet too, your truck may be rusting from the inside out.

Look on car-part.com, the website used by most of the big junkyards in North America to sell their used parts. Way, WAY more parts available than listed on eBay; prices tend to vary but you can almost always beat the few listings on eBay.

Note, you may need to phone any of the places listed; they're not too up on using e-mail, even when showing an e-mail address on their website.
