2012/2013 MDX Vibration Poll
Given that we've seen a few different challenges with vibration from the latest gen MDX, thought it might be useful to get further board input in an attempt to drill down on potential occurence rate/cause.
Please make any other comments as well as participate in the poll. If the Mods feel this belongs in Polls or Problems subforum, so be it. That said, I figured this subforum had the most eyeballs so it might make the poll more robust. Please and thanks. |

What about the 2011's. Many of them had vibration problems too. Though, they seemed to have been related more to the wheels/tires.

The poll will be open for 60 days so hopefully we will have a somewhat valid sampling. |

I voted Yes and checked that it is a tire or wheel problem. My wife has a 2012 purchased new in April. During the test drive it had a vibration at almost all speeds. After about 10 minutes it went away. The salesman said many of the MDX on the lot get a flat spot on the tire from sitting, and after driving for a while it returns to normal.
It has happened several times now when the car has sat for a week or so without having been driven. It does go away in about 10 minutes or so. First car or truck we have ever owned that this happens to. These are the Michelin factory installed tires on our Tech model (18"). We have about 10000 miles on it now. One tire rotation has been done and the tires still get a flat spot if not driven within a week or so. |

Thankfully I've never experienced any vibration. It looks like most people are in the same boat, based on the poll.

I've noticed engine vibration at start up. I asked the dealer to look at the mounts and they didn't find any issues. I also noticed a slight vibration at 70+ mph that to me seemed wheel balanced related. I drove on the highway yesterday and it was gone. :/

Per the other recent thread, at least one potential cause/cure is proper torque or tightening of wheel lug nuts? If so, this is obviously both simple and a potential relief.
If not, we are still trying to determine if this is perhaps a more serious tranny, drivetrain, or suspension issue. Discuss. Note this thread was initially started about the 60-72 mph vibration, but if you are experiencing the lower speed shudder via the torque converter issue, please chime in. |

I have a 2013 that we got the week before Christmas. We have vibration at 40mph and then again at 70-75mph. All speeds in between are somewhat smooth. Thinking it is suspension b/c they have done all sorts of things to the wheels even replacing them from an MDX that doesnt have the vibration and we still had vibration on my MDX at the speeds listed above. Also, the majority of the vibration is felt in the passenger seat...to the point the passenger side door panels shake! Still trying to figure it all out!

You should have changed your 2013 MDX for that 2013 MDX that didn't have the vibration or one with similar options as yours that doesn't have the vibration.
