No, I didn't. Just removed one nut per wheel and replace it with the wheel lock.

I see your point now, so you saying that the right procedure to put the wheel lock is to remove all (five) huts, remove and place the wheel back on the hub and torque four nuts again along with the new wheel lock? Interesting. Thanks.

Not really; as I noted before if all four other lug nuts were seated properly and torqued correctly, then your procedure should not have affected it. But if the wheel and lug nuts were not initially seated and torqued correctly, then your procedure "may" have further aggravated the balance.

We are doing a process of elimination here .....

I would recommend having the wheels road force balanced. This is no the standard balance job done by most. Discount Tires have the Hunter machines with this capability.

A $30 torque bar has saved me years of aggravation and I am not suggesting warped rotors are creating your vibration issues, but in my experiences early vibrations started from improperly torqued lug nuts and then as miles racked up, the vibrations became worse especially when slowing down from interstate speeds/etc.

Two years ago, in August I neglected to do this during a tire rotation, and by October (1500 miles) my front rotors warped. I started having a continual vibration (front right seat shaking). Dealer replaced them. I took the MDX home; re-torqued by hand no more issues.

Used to always have issues with my pre-Acura's having warped rotors till I started doing this myself and never had an issue again till I forgot to do so myself on the MDX that August.
Agree on proper torquing. I had the above issue (warped rotors) on an old Dodge pickup also due to improper torquing. May not be the issue, but it's another possibility to eliminate and takes very little time to do.

Another 2013 Tech with Vibrations

One more thing to add. You should torque them in a star fashion and not start at one lug then going to the next adjacent lug.

This is crazy that we have to come up with solutions for an error that Acura has made. This problem should have never left the factory! This is crazy!!!

Posted the same repsonse in the other thread re 2012 MDX.

As always, the devil is in the details of such posts/concerns.

1) If indeed it is due to flat spots - then:
(a) was this issue tested and validated on all the oem brand tires at the dealers or is it specific to one brand size of tire?
(b) did one check the tire pressure on all the tested vehicles to see how far they had dropped in cold weather sitting on the lot for x days?

2) Can someone videotape this vibration from the passenger side? Surely if there is vibration it should show up on the steering wheel right?

3) Has anyone contacted Acura HQ to see if the product engineers are aware of this (not the regional sales manager) and if there is technical service bulletin in the pipeline?

It can very well be real issue in the design of some models manufactured with certain types or a certain time window, and it could very well be (1) above.

Yes this is crazy.. Dealers are required to prepare and test any vehicle that is shipped to them. They will remove any wrapping and will perform tests to make sure it is ready for sell..

It is the fault of the dealer to be selling untested/sub-standard vehicles.

The best way is to return the vehicle ASAP if the dealer cannot fix the vehicle and there is no other vehicle in the lot that don't have this problem.

Those VINs should be put in a lemon list, too, so that the dealer don't go and just dump it on another poor owner and maker their life miserable.

PEOPLE.. AFTER ALL THESES VIBRATION CASES, YOU SHOULD NOT BUY AN MDX WITHOUT TESTING IT ALL THE WAY TO 80 MPH TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO VIBRATIONS. SOME OF THESE MDX's MAY BE THE ONES AT THE END OF THE BARREL.... JUST RETURN THEM ASAP IF THE DEALER CANNOT FIX IT.. CALL YOUR LAWYER.....

Get them road force balanced! Tell techs to not have any assembly (rim and tire) Greater than 10-12 lbs road force or they will vibrate regardless of how well they are balanced
