2007 timing belt

Hello,

First time posting here and I've been searching around a bit. I have an 07 mdx tech that just turned 70K. I brought the car to my dealer for regular maintenance and they did the new torque converter update and some recall with the power steering pump. Anyway on the way home I lost the power steering and turned right back around. So anyway they put in another one, but when they came back they said I need to get my timing belt done asap. Is this possible at 70K I figured at least 90K I"ve had problems with this dealer before I'm going to get a second opinion just wanted to see your thoughts. Also want to know because if I really need it done I might as well do the water pump to from what i've read.

Acura says 105,000 miles on the 2007 MDX. Unless you've been hard on it, I would follow Acura's manual. On my 2009, I did the Timing Belt at 98,000 miles - it still looked new.

I didn't think you could make much analysis from just looking at the belt. Definitely get a second opinion.

That's correct. Replacing the cooling system hoses (at least, the two big ones) at that time is also a good idea. Keep it in mind for when you do replace the timing belt.

Yours is not due yet. Plan on doing it some time next year (2014).

Thanks for all the responses, I"m just going to get a second opinion. The tech didn't tell me what he saw just said I need to get it done asap.

Some dealers try to talk people into performing expensive service they don't need. My MDX was in for an oil change and SA called me that my 07 MDX is due for a timing belt change at 85k (140 k km).

It should be done at 7 years/105 k whichever comes first. You might consider it doing it early if you do a lot of towing. Mine does not even have tow package.
