Dealer re-flashed tranny.

I wanted to let everyone know that I received a letter from Acura re: my 07 MDX base 09/12 stating they'd extend warranty coverage on the tranny to 8 years 105k-ish ( I'll check on the specifics). When I brought it in for 60k mile service they automatically performed a tranny reflash. Their receipt states

"product update campaign: software for lock-up clutch function (pgm-fi or a/t software. s/b# 12-029"

I bought my MDX CPO 12/10 42k miles and since that time I've always regarded the transmission as kind of "dumb". It always seemed to be caught flat-footed and never appeared to know when to lock up T/C. I never had any of the dreaded shuddering, though.

Upon receipt from the dealer, it was like I had a brand new tranny. What a difference in the overall drive-ability and demeanor of the vehicle. It's like a totally different MDX.

My advice to anyone who may have received this letter extending coverage on the transmission is to check with the dealer, you my be eligible for this re-flash and not know it and then your MDX will drive like it's supposed to!
