Can I turn off dashboard check engine emissions light?

My son is taking his drivers license test tomorrow. I took my 2007 MDX to the dealer today for a check as the emission light had been going on and off recently. They turned the light off and said the computer had recorded a misfire, probably from running the tank too low on one of the long trips over the Holidays. Well the test manual says you have to have a full tank so I dutifully filled up this afternoon in preparation. The damn light came back on...4:30 PM called the dealership. They now say its probably the catalyzer, they don't have it in stock and can not get it installed in time for tomorrow any way!
The test manual also says that they perform an inspection of the test vehicle and that no dashboard warning lights should be activated.
My son has driven the MDX almost exclusively and as any new driver is nervious about his test. To try to switch to my clutch Jeep or 1973 Mercedes Benz 450 SL are not good options.

You can try pulling the negative battery cable for 30mins. or try autozone for them to reset it. It probably will come back but give you some time for the test.

Go to auto zone, buy a scanner and reset the light ($50-60), you can return it later if you want or keep it, it will save you trips to dealer.
However, resetting the light doesn't mean is not going to come back on depending on what the problem is.

Yeah, you may have voted for me, but don't expect me to work for you. I'm too busy catering to the people who funded my election and to the people who bribe me. And remember, if anything goes wrong it's anyone else's fault but mine, in fact it was probably yours. You must be wondering why all this is legal. Well, son, I make the law.

Well, We couldn't use the MDX for his drivers test but he passed anyway using my restored 1973 Mercedes 450 SL. The tester, a dour woman, was not impressed!...I started a new thread asking the many possible reasons for the emission light coming on. I wanted to be forearmed before going back to the dealer and having them start replacing everything in the emissions chain until they came upon the culprit by trial and error...my trial and their errors!
