Does the Sh-AWD system also act like a limited slip diff? In other words, if I'm driving in a straight line on slippery ground will it send more torque to side not slipping?

Yep. It is one of the best features of the X. On my '11 tech you can bring up a graphic in the mid that shows the power distribution in pretty close to real time. You'll see that it doesn't wait for a wheel to slip. It adjusts based on torque sensing.
