Added the AirLift 1000 to my 2011 MDX
Have owned my 2011 for over a year and noticed the MDX squats when all three rows have passengers or when loaded with luggage during a trip. Decided to add the AirLift 1000 kit made specifically for the MDX (part 60815).
Had a local performance shop perform the install (it's too cold for a DIY install on a garage floor). The shop does a lot of custom trucks and SUVs, my MDX project was lightweight work. Seems like they know what they're doing. Anyhow, the install is done and I have a question. Looking at the pic, should the light gray stopper attached to the frame be pushing on the top of the AirLift air bag? There was additional stoppers and bumpers the shop removed that were inside the coil. Not sure if this piece also needs to be removed. Seems odd that there isn't a flat surface for the top of the air bag to rests. I've sent an email to AirLift with pics to get their take. ![]()

You need to either (a) include the picture as an attachment to your post, or (b) upload the picture to a publicly-accessible website (e.g. photobucket), then include it as an image in your post. EDIT: As noted below, apparently pictures uploaded to this site need to be approved by a moderator before they are visible to everyone. |

BTW, AirLift technical support replied to my question. They said the install is correct and they double-checked with engineering. So the manufacturer says it's good. Just seems odd the top of the air bag isn't flush with the frame or another suspension component.

Is there an airlift spacer between the actual bag and the gray spacer? I can't tell from your photo, nor have I installed these on an MDX, but on other Airlift installs I've done there's a flat plastic spacer about 3/4" thick that sits on top the bag. Then it would have a factory or other bump stop as part of the chassis. Either way, Airlift should be able to help you. EDIT: And I see that they did. I've never seen the top of the bags touch the frame, there's usually some sort of gap.
