I'm more of a fan of polished and silver wheels, or at the very least hyperblack or gunmetal. But pure black really reminds me of those cheap honda civics. But everyone is entitled to do anything they want to their car.

Not a fan of black wheels. I don't understand that trend. Black traditionally denotes the cheaper version over chrome/aluminum. And it does nothing for the looks IMHO. Around here, people would paint steel winter wheels black.

Not bad. Match it with black roof rack and black running board. You might as well paint the center cap too.

Thanks everyone. As a few have indicated it really comes down to personal preference. I personally like the look (obviously). It hides brake dust and the car looks mysterious at night..almost like the wheels and tires are missing when it rolls by.
I've seen it on everything from high 6 figure Porsches such as the RUF RGT-8 and yes on cheap Honda Civics. My 911 is silver with silver wheels...I haven't decided whether to mess with it. I may plasti-dip that one. Some more reading on the phenomenom. Black replaces bling on custom wheels |

But you know, I'd say I'll prefer black wheels over neon green, pink, or yellow wheels. I'll NEVER understand some of those trends.

I suppose if it's on a black MDX then it gives it a "Dark Knight" look to the vehicle, but other than that, looks like running on four cheap hubcapless spare rims to me.
On the bright side, atleast blacked out rims is better than pink rims that I've seen.

I think black rims only work with certain types of wheels and color combos. The wheel itself must standout, as in size and design. In terms of color, usually it works better when it's in combination with something bright (i.e. yellow, red, blue, white) or black on black for the stealth look. I think for black rims to look good on a MDX, the rim/tire combo should be something more aggressive in terms of size and tread (all terrains).

Black wheels can certainly be appealing in certain situations. Although the application on an MDX isn't, to me, a good fit or fit within the "frame of reference" for an MDX. Satin gunmetal like certain stock OE wheels look great but gloss black looks...again, to me, just out of place.
Either way, you like it and that's the only thing that counts.

Thanks for sharing! To me, black rims and luxury vehicles don't mix. I guess I consider the MDX more luxury because don't they advertise as such? Maybe if you put some grills over the headlights and fogs on the roof or something and put mud tires on.
