2011 MDX Reflector Strip Conversion for Reverse Lights

Has anyone seen or done a conversion to replace the rear reflector strip to use reverse lights.

I was hoping that better rear lighting would improve my backup camera at night which is almost useless without any ambient lighting.

I have seen another thread in here that was talking about changing the reverse light bulbs and adding license plate frame lights. However, they mentioned that it did not really assist in the backup camera arena.

If anything, I am willing to try it myself if someone can point me in the right direction for replacing the red reflector plastic with a clear one.

I am hoping that with a light source lower to ground it will better help the backup camera as opposed to the license plate frame solution which I think would create a wash because the light source is too close to the camera.

Intriguing idea.. I actually hadn't noticed those reflectors but is a possibility I suppose..
I too am looking for a solution to the back up camera problem at night

I have been thinking of mod'ing a Hitch step like this one to make it a Reverse light instead of a brake light as a possible solution..

But I don't yet have a hitch installed yet .. nor do I have a hitch step..
Does anyone have one and can tell if it is easy enough to get into it?

wow that's a lot of light.. very cool idea...
May be a bit much for just the backup camera but a good concept
