Yes that is correct, I had it painted at a local shop. All the new OEM ones will come unpainted. I actually got mine off an ebay seller for $225 including the front garnish in pretty excellent condition.

Nice!!!! Really nice....got me thinking....but i think my bumpers were recently wet sanded and sprayed...just before i bought....there was a few nicks, scratches....i had pointed them out at the dealer...they fixed it all when i bought....but, seeing this....hmm.

I bought them from a friend of a friend who happen to whole sale wheels in the bay area. Call me crazy but I'm not sure what they are called, I just liked the way they looked. However I think they are some sort of BMW replicas.

Thanks! Go for it if you have some extra money. I mean there are some people who thinks that its not worth it to do something like this, but in comparison to some modifications that a lot of people do to their cars, this is relatively cheap. I've had friends that have dropped thousands of dollars on expensive paint jobs and authentic JDM bodykits for their cars. This conversion is a fraction of that lol

Interesting, did not realize that the bumpers came unpainted.

Would be tempting except for the $$$ I have sunk into the front painted bumper, front garnish, and clear bra. Although I'm sure I could break even just by reselling the garnish .

Funny thing is that I actually prefer the old face, but I'm not sure I'd have the balls to trade with someone...plus a repaint will be needed as my color (Grillo) was short run

Did you change the back too? Because the lower plastic in the front is darked and blacker than on the older MDXes, and that lower part of the car probably wont match the backend.

Actually I plastidipped the rear plastic black also to match the front. I also have the chrome piece add-on. So it matches the front. I don't have any pictures right now though.

I also contemplated on converting the rear bumper too, but that would involve changing the muffler tips. The overall added costs doing that just wasn't worth it to me.

Depending on what the body shop says, I may be following in your footsteps.

Had some psycho cut in front of my wife last night and sideswipe the front doors and front end. We are okay. I got the guy's plate before he decided to make a run for it. Cops ended up finding him quickly.

Not sure if the bumper will need replacing but if so, I'll probably do the '10 conversion.
