Well guys The software update definitely help.
The judder, jerking is gone and it feels alot different when accelarate. I also notice my rpm has stay more stable then before.
As for the steering I got a new pump install and the hard steering is gone as well and it feel way better then before, very smooth. If anyone hasn't got their fixed they should.

I agree. Have had our 2008 MDX since new, and it now runs better at 85,000 miles then it ever did. The steering is smoother (although minor change) and the transmission is noticably smoother, quicker shifting, and no rumbling. I am surprised how well the transmission is working considering I thought I may need a new TC.

I just got the power steering pump replaced last week, and there is improvement in that it takes only one hand to turn the wheel at slow speeds and when the wheel is completely cramped IT ACTUALLY SPINS ITSELF BACK TO STRAIGHT AHEAD WITHOUT ME PULLING IT BACK TO CENTER! It's not anywhere close to the new models ('11) where you can turn the wheel with your pinkie but it's a lot better with u-turns and backing out of the driveway.

BTW, my car FAILED the test for a new pump, but since I only had about 8 visits starting a month after I bought it for this problem, and entirely new steering rack, etc. they went ahead and replaced it. I think their "test" is not a good indicator of a problem.

I received a letter from Acura regarding the pump and he update. I'm planning to bring my MDX on my next service. I still have 50% oil life left. Will it void the warranty if I'll bring it later for the update. I don't trust the ACURA DEALER close to my house. I usually drive 60 miles to the ACURA DEALER were I bought and service my car.

I wanted to 2nd this, their "test" is simply not realistic. They only measure the output force in psi of the power steering pump but do not actually measure how it "feels"

I was denied for this service because the tech says "there's nothing wrong with it" even though I know for sure it's a pita to turn at slow speeds.

I'm wondering, is there anybody in the bay area ca right now that have had this done? I'm thinking to take mine to a different Acura to see if they will do this service.

I received the letter and I am going to take it in. Mine definitely suffers from it but after reading the "test" criteria I am not sure it will qualify. My wife doesn't even like to drive it because she says it is too hard to turn.

2007 MDX with 120K and complained about the hard steering back in 2011 when had 83K on it. Dealer not wanting to cover repair now (mileage out of warranty coverage 100K) even though receipt shows they recommend replacing power steering pump back in 2011. Guess I am going to have to escalate this to get it fixed. Very disappointed in the quality of this acura. Several messages left for my "service advisor" and can't get a call back. More repairs and issues than ever had with previous accord and CRV combined.

Mine only took 1/2 day for both the software update and the power steering pump replacement. Since these were warranty issues I received a loaner vehicle. It was 2013 Tech package. I really like the newer navigation and usb plug. But the steering was soft, I like the steering assistance (or lack of too much) in my 2007. And it seemed to have more road noise than my 07.

Mine took longer but it's okay! I, too, got a loaner 2013 Tech the last four days I can hardly notice the difference on the steering wheel stiffness after they replaced the pump; at least I got a new one. I also now have a new starter because the old one was binding and making noise a second after start ups. A faulty shift solenoid harness was also replaced under warranty.
I agree with you on the softness of the steering. I also liked the navi. I wish I was able to swap a newer 2012 navi unit when I had mine replaced thru an insurance claim(dunno if '07 to '12 swap will work though, wishful thinkin'). I noticed that the new X with 970miles was only getting 15.9 combined mpg. My 07 with 100kmiles is still getting 18 combined mpg. Yes, more road noise..I even turned off the radio just to be sure...Oh- I did not like the thicker steering wheel...and 2013?? where's the heated steering wheel???

Have any of you tried using Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak? Don't let the name fool you, it solves all types of steering problems.
Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak : Lucas Oil

My wife, and I bought our first MDX last week, and Sunday night it started making noise, and my wife complained that the steering was getting tighter.

The PS Fluid reservoir was at the lower mark so I topped it off with the Lucas, and the noise almost immediately stopped. We will see how it works over the next couple days, but I used this stuff in my Jeep with similar issues, and it worked like a charm.

my 07 x just had 103K miles, one of my shocks is leaking on the passenger rear and I have the sport tech package so the shock is going to cost an arm and leg.

What are the chances you guys think for them to replace my steering pump/rack for free under this tsb since i've been having issues with it when the weather gets cold.

I have a 2008 MDX and live in Canada. I am not experiencing any problems with the hard steering for now. Is it a good idea to have the power steering pump replaced now? Is the dealer under any obligation to replace it even if the steering is fine now? Thank you all for your input.

Timing is good!!!!! Starting with whine..., I topped up PS fluid (Acura Certified), and helped whine go away.

In a parking spot, while trying to get out, and turning the wheel was very hard!!!!!

Let's see how it goes, when I call local dealership, and provide my VIN number.
