Bug deflector 2008 vs 2012

Hi guys,

Does anyone can tell me if a hood deflector for 2008 MDX fit on a 2012 ? On WeatherTech site, the only deflector is for 2008 ?!?

Hi Eric,
I asked the dealer to add 3M protection to my MDX when i purchased it. It beats the bug deflector. 3M protection is a clear tape that is placed on top of the hood. It's the same technology used to make windows blast proof. You can't even tell that it's on your vehicle . I have no chips on the vehicle and bugs splatter is easy to remove.

If you own the Advance model then you can enable the ACC with the radar at the front that zaps the bugs long before they go splat on your hood. In fact there are 3 selectable distances so that you may choose how far away the annhilation takes place.

Now if ACC used laser I would be more inclined to believe that.

I fuind the bug deflector directs air up and over the front windshield--taking bugs with it. The 3m product is something else to clean. It may work better for rocks (of which I do get them on gravel roads) so I am not discounting it--but the shield diverts 50-70% of the bugs. (Not the big heavy juicy one I am afraid.

But you would think that the 10, 11, 12 plenum would just frighten the bugs out of the way.

Is yours attached to the hood or do you have to remove it to lift the hood?

It s attached to the hood---think at 4 locations. There are 4 spots pre-drilled in the hood that the bolts/screws fit into. I had to trim the rubber a bit to allow access---but complete install took about 15 minutes. They furnish some rubber bumpers to go on the back of the deflector so it does not rub against hood. I did not install them as I did not like the look--but have had no damage or need in 15000 miles.

sorry--holes are predrilled underneath the hood on the lip. not in the hood front, in case I was not clear.

Okay--I had to go look. Attaching 2 pics of installation for you folks. There are six (6) screw/bolts that are used. Nickel or zinc with rubber grommets. They attach into holes from factory. First pic show 5 orf the 6 points, then a pic of the two left most points closeup.
