Red light to the right of the brake light?
I have an 07 tech/ ent package, 51000 miles. I was driving on the interstate when my rpm's went from 2000 up to 3500 on level ground. I shift the gear shift over to manual and the gear number display was blank. I pulled over and noticed a small red light to the right of the brake light. Only once or twice in the past it seems the rpm's are very high and it doesn't want to shift. There's no jerking in the transmission. Does anyone have an indication of what I might be dealing with before I go to a dealer? Thanks

Owner’s Manual says the red light is the SECURITY SYSTEM INDICATOR.
While seeming unrelated to the engine or transmission, could be a control unit malfunction (They talk to each other). Maybe get a scan for DTCs. Some say AutoZone and other Auto Parts stores will do it as a courtesy. |

Update: this afternoon my wife called from her office and she said the message popped up: transmission system: p0741 code. I looked it up by googling the phrase and I found: torque converter clutch solenoid stuck off.... Now, would that be covered under the power train warranty? I just have over 51,000 miles and I purchased it in April of 2007.

I never really noticed this light until recently. It only blinks when the door is locked (after leaving the vehicle) and turns off when I unlock the car to enter., which is what the manual says but I could of swore I never saw the light blinking though. lol.
Is the light always suppose to be blinking or is it only suppose to blink for a short period and then turn off? Just curious because I never noticed it before and now I see the blinking light. |
