Worn Leather Replacement Refused

I have a 2012 Advance (Black/Black) with 1200 miles on it, and I have already begun to notice creases in the leather more profound than the original poster's pictures.

I'm very surprised by this, because while my prior 2010 TL Tech certainly had creases by 35K or so, it looked great for a couple of years.

I'm 6'3"/220, so I'm by no means petite, but neither am I grossly obese, and the seat shouldn't be showing such significant wear by now.

I'm inclined to make contact with the dealer/Acura over the issue, because at this rate it's going to need replacement relatively soon.

They need to either improve the leather in these sections, or they need to significantly increase the air velocity coming from the ventilated seats, so that we can levitate.

I had the same thing with my '11 tech. My concern is that over time the creases will turn into cracks. I took pictures and brought them to the dealership. They dated, signed them, put one copy in my file and I kept a set. They thought it was a great idea because they recognized that Acura would claim normal wear once the car was a year old.

I have an '09 with 115,000 miles on it - I've done all the driving. The cracks are pretty bad and I am not happy with how these seats wore. I will say that Acura is NO Lexus! I had a 2000 RX-300 that I drove new for several years and put just as many miles on it and I had no issue with the leather. Maybe the cows these days are like they used to be...

The leather from acura seems more prone to signs of wear than what I'm used to from the European makes. I had a volvo with 190k miles on it and the seats were mike new. It seems like it might be because the acura seats aren't as firm and the leather isn't as tight. I also suspect that not all leather is the same.

I've noticed the same issue on my 2012 Advance. Prior to the MDX, I had a 2006 Honda Odyssey and had the same issue in the same location. Bottom line, it is poor quality leather in that area, which makes me wonder if it is synthetic or pig leather instead of cow. By the way, I have a 2002 Acura TL with leather seats @ 100,000+ miles and they still look great without the wear patterns the MDX has at only 3,500 miles.

After my Odyssey experience, I've tried to be proactive and clean/condition the MDX seat with Luxor about every 10-14 days. Looks better after I use the Luxor, but only for a while. I've also used mink oil (you can get it at a shoe store) which was recommended to me by the manufacturer of my leather couch I have at home. The couch leather still looks brand new, but it also has top quality (grade A) cow leather.

I'm going to start getting the seat issue documented with the dealer so if it gets worse, I'll have some recourse in the future.
