Key FOB battery change?

How do you change the battery on the switchblade style key fob for an 07 MDX? I had it open and I got it to the button box thing but wasn't sure if it comes apart. It looks sealed, and I don't want to break it. Any info would be great.

cool, thanks. The car is only 1.5 years old, is that something that could be covered under warranty?

Seems odd to bad so soon as I have had remotes last almost 8 years without needing battery changes.

Call the dealer and ask. As for the Manual, there are diagrams so posting just the text would not help which is why I posted the page numbers.

That was perfect, thankyou. Of course I should have looked there first since it is a freakin book! LOL. Its only a small 1616 watch type battery, I thought it might be more than that. No biggie; may be more of a problem asking the dealer about it, unless a new battery does not fix it.

Wait, you mean the owner's manual has all this information? ha ha.

I've been guilty of asking or looking on a forum a question that was in the manual somewhere, but I was just too lazy to look for it.

Speaking of, I thought my car had a nasty rattle in the dash. I poked around and found that it was my key. On further examination, I tightened the screw to the battery compartment and sun of a gun, problem solved!

I just changed the battery. If I did not use the info in the manual, I would not have been able to do the job. It is not intuitive without the documentation.

Gee... rtfm worked!

I, too, didn't want to open the button assembly. Glad I checked here and found the user manual reference. Lucky that I had a cr1616 in the battery drawer, I'd asked my service advisor if cr32 would be the right size.

I thought the trickiest part was reassembling the case - that wierd nut that the screw bites into fell out and I had a heckuva time repositioning it.

Locking and unlocking away now!

Its pretty easy once you read the manual:-) Our 2011 key fob went dead after only 6 months... My fault though as my wallet was pushing the button for the whole day while i was in brooklyn one weekend. Anyway i read that the sony replacement batteries are the best i replaced mine with that. So far so good.

Check youtube, there is a video on how to change battery in Honda or Acura key fob. That's where I found out how.
