Lightbulb Fog lights as DRL

Does anybody know how to change DRL to foglights instead of the high beams? Canadian vehicles are required to have DRL by law and the 1st gen MDX's came with high beams as DRL from factory.

I know there are members here who have managed to wire fog lights to come on with parking lights. However I want the fogs to be used as DRL and still want to be able to control them with the switch. I found a thread on the TSX forums (Click me) of somebody who managed to do this and still retain all the factory functions, however we are talking about the MDX here.

So, anybody know how I would go about this?

For a fairly complete discussion on the subject of DRL's go here:

Hope this helps.

ps/
Going on 8 years with my DRL setup, and have yet to replace my fog light bulbs. The GM DRL module I wired in reduces the voltage to the fog lights by 15% during DRL ops, and 100% otherwise.

Thanks highcountrymdx, but I don't really want to buy a new module. Seems like a waste of money since my car already has DRL. I just want to move it to foglights instead of highbeam position.

What I have found through searching is that the some people have achieved this by connecting the wht/red wire from foglight switch to the yellow ignition2 wire. However I don't want them turning while car is starting. Would it work if I connected wht/red to parking brake wire? Just want to add, the wht/red wire comes from headlight switch which is why foglights ONLY turn on when headlights are on.

If I can get this working, I will pull the DRL fuse to disable stock DRLs.

Can someone give me some feedback on this?

You prob can not get enough watts in your DRL sockets to use effective fog lights in them.
Most US states allow up to 50 watts on road and 130 off road.
Not sure about Canada Law but if Canada requires Fog Lights
then it should be on the MDX when you buy it.
I would stay KC types add on in a single bar or 2 next to DRLs.

stock fog lights are 50w halogens. And stock DRL are high beam bulbs with a pulsed signal so they're about half as bright during day.

Also, all MDXs come with fog lights. Even base models have them.

What's KC type?
