Changed out front door speakers
I was stumbling through some old threads about speakers and saw several recommendations for these; Infinity 6002si reference series two-way shallow mount speakers. Who knows what reference means? I guess it means they sound good.
Found them on eBay for $100 and the guy threw in a set of Punch 5" two-ways for free, without telling me. Bonus. It took about 20 minutes pre side. Pop off the screen from the back, there is an indent for the prying tool. The screen is hinged at the front, slide in. I cut off the connecting clip and added quick connects, drill three new holes, screw on new speaker, replace screen, done. WOW! What a difference. Now I have to be careful not to go all OCD on the stereo system. Some of the systems posted on this forum are really awesome, but this was a good start for me. Suoppose I should do the back doors now...and so it begins.

What are you going to do with the OE speakers. I am thinking about trading in my MDX or selling it soon. Need to replace my front speakers. Id like to keep the infinitys I have in there.

Stop it Phins. That's exactly what I mean about going all OCD on it. Last night I bought another pair for the back doors, on a whim, while I was posting this thread...and so it begins. How hard is it to install an amp? Looks very hard.

Thanks, Phins. Looks way above my pay grade. Fantastic write up that I book marked, in case I get brave.

You did not answer my pm, but now that I have four of them, I'll try to get $99 for the set on eBay.

Two given away, two left over. Warzau, you'll be the first and only contributor east of the Mississippi...Thank you very much.
Thanks Phins, do you think the amp would fit under the driver's side back seat? I'll take a gamble that it does. I have too much valuable stuff in the storage boot that will not store anywhere else in the car.

Not sure about that but if you don't have Nav, the front passenger seat would be an option, too.

The rears are in and functioning. Double wow!!
The rears are completely different with a weird plastic mounting plate attached to the door panel. The fronts are attached directly to the door panel. The plastic mounting plate cannot be discarded, but serves as a base for the metal universal mounting plate that came with the speakers, which I jury rigged into a secure position. Speakers to the metal plate, done. Easy, cheap mod with great results.

Amp to the back burner, but not round filed. I keep reading your write up. The four new speakers are more than fine for me, but I can see where an amp would be primo. Besides, the listing expired before I acted. I wouldn't be able to work on it for two or three months, even if I did get it. A 4-channel would definitely not fit under the back seat, but I think the 2-channel one will and I am trying to figure out how to secure it, short of taking out the seat. I have an Acura service manual to get dangerous with. It looks like I could take off the seat end plate and slide the amp in. Run the wires under the door sills. Here's a Rube Goldberg; cover the entire bottom of the amp in velcro, cover that with cellophane and slide it in there, then pull the cellophane out. Use industrial strength velcro. There is enough carpeted flat space to get a good hold, theoretically, in my pea brain.
