Rear Wiper issue - it stops immediately when I switch it off

Hello, I have 2002 MDX. The rear wiper turns on just fine but when I turn the rear wiper off, the wiper stops mid-window, it doesn't reset and go back to its flat, level, bottom resting place. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Just a stab in the dark, but check the wire loom going to the tailgate. If you open the tailgate, it is in the upper left hand corner. There is a rubber boot around it. I have had two severed wires (and a third almost severed). Probably not the cause but one place to check.

The wiper motor isnt parking. The circuits responsible are built into the motor unit. The rear wiper motor needs to be replaced.

I never use the rear wiper on mine. I'd just disconnect it.

My 2001 did the same,
Check the wires going to the hatch like phins2rt said,
Mine has one wire severed and repairing that fixed it,
You may not need a motor

So then everytime a poster asks a question, we all just hop on a plane and take a look at each other's vehicle instead of giving our advice and friendly suggestions.

Oddly enough my rear wiper works fine, but my windshield wipers have the "stop wherever we please" issue. It's the wiper motor on mine, so I would assume it's the same for the back window. Time to replace the motor, or just turn it off when it's at the bottom.

I'm $170 an hour to diagnose an Acura in person.

It's free here.

You get what you pay for. Maybe it's an accurate guess, maybe it is way off. So take everything with a grain of salt.

Wow, 170/hr seems a bit pricey

Welcome to the SF Bay Area. Everything costs more here.

The DC metro is not what you would call cheap either, and $170 seems outrageous to me.

Premium unleaded is over $4.30 in the Bay Area right now. My 1460 sq ft townhouse cost over half a million dollars. And if you think my price is high, I think some of the Mercedes and BMW dealers have a shop rate over $200/hr.

Buuut, the median household income is like $80k in the Bay Area.
