2003 Acura MDX Navigation Kit

Hello,

I have Acura MDX 2003 with Trip computer. I don't have any navigation support right now but I'm thinking to upgrade to navigation system. I have seen a Navigation Kit with Backup Camera support on ebay for $1400. Here is the link to it

01 06 Acura MDX Navigation System Easy to Install Kit | eBay

The seller says that I won't be needing anything else to install the kit to my car. Anybody has any idea if it's true or would I be needing something else (wiring, antena etc) for installation?

Thanks in advance

The nav in my 01 is pathetic in comparison to a Garmin. When I go on a trip I use my Garmin because of that. Perhaps the 06 had a better GUI but I personally would not spend that type of money to upgrade.

You may also open up a can or worms when you tackle this. If you get all the parts as described you should be fine. Running the harness from here to there will be a job in and of itself.

I have to agree, just get you a nice Garmin Nuvi. The kind of time and expense it takes to upgrade a non-nav to a nav is IMHO, just not worth it. I do have my eye on a nice 2012...

If you really want to go with a serious upgrade and willing to spend that much on it. The new year is upon us and aftermarket stores like car toys will be looking to liquidate inventory at discounted prices. You can get a whole lot of a system with tons of adds from them and still install yourself.

Yes even I myself find aftermarket systems alot better and with lot more options. The only problem with aftermarket system is that it doesn't look good and car loses in originality. Specially in cars like MDX where you already have a screen (trip computer) and if you add another screen you would endup with 2 screens which looks odd no?

I am going to contact the seller of this OEM system tomorrow and ask him if it comes with everything or is it really very difficult to install the system (wiring harness and everything)

I have a 03 MDX w/ Nav and find the system quite good.

I checked car-part.com and found the entire AM-FM-CD-Nav system could be purchased from a salvage car for < $200.

good luck

IMHO, save the $1400 for something else. This is a ten year old car after all.
