Just picked up another MDX
Our 2001 MDX is already over 169k miles and is still on the original transmission with no sign of trouble whatsoever.
We were so impressed with it, we decided to buy our oldest son another 2001 MDX with 156k miles. He just graduated college and got a job, so he needs transportation. At $4000 all it needs is an oil change, new tires and a new battery. No oil leaks and the body is in excellent shape! I think he did quite well there since he's paying for it. ![]() The only problem is that it is now asking for the radio code and the owner doesn't have it. We are going to have to go the the dealer sometimes after we register it under our name. What a drag!!!! |

![]() The part about Honda is true with their engines. I only wish they knew how to design a proper automatic transmission. |

QFT. Hondas are notorious for their glass autotragic trannies.

If you can determine the original selling dealer, they can give it to you over the phone with the VIN. They have it in their computer files on every vehicle they process. That's how I got mine anyway, through the service department.

I doubt it. When I called, they asked nothing about ownership and if you happen to live in the same town as the originating dealer, they are going to assume you own the car when you drive onto their facility with it. If they treat you in any way other than a future valued customer, be wary.

Our MDX has been great as well, so much so that my wife's already talking about getting a new MDX when our current one rotates its last crank!

For future reference, in most cases the radio code is placed in certain locations around the vehicle. I found mine under the fuse panel cover in the engine area. Some have reported seeing it on the outside sides of the glove box. It is a white sticker with only the 5 digit radio code and nothing else.
Hope this helps others when they need to change the battery.
