Heat/AC blower stopped working
2002 MDX, w/ the touchscreen navigation and touchscreen heat climate controls. Blower(fan) will not work in the front of the car. When i turn the fan on, you can hear the air blowing out of the rear vent, but no air comes out of any of the front vents. I know that the zone (floor, windshield, front) ducts are opening and closing properly, I can hear them change and feel the air 'floating' out of them, but the blower in the front is just not working. Is this is common thing w/ a high mileage MDX?

Did you check the thermal resistor?
I just replaced the one for the rear AC in our 2003 and got that working again - cost under $5 for the resistor and the shipping from digikey. Took me about 15-20 minutes for the whole process, including: removing the "transistor" module, taking out the 3 screws, de-soldering the old resistor (checked it with an ohm-meter first and it was definitely broken), putting heat shrink tubing to protect the legs of the new resistor and soldering the new resistor in place. I put the 3 screws back in and put the "transistor" module back in place, and now the rear AC works again. Check out this thread: 1st gen MDX Front AC fix Check out the whole thread before proceeding with the repair - it sounds like the same resistor works for both the front and rear AC units. If you have some spare time, the following thread discusses mostly the rear AC fix, but there is some stuff in there about the front AC: Broken Rear AC. Grrr... |
