J35A5 or J35A8 engine on a 01 MDX (J35A3 OEM)

Hi folks! Is this doable? I mean...I have been having problems with my 01 X since I bought her 11 months ago...first had to repair tranny...then head covers...and now she seems to be engine broken...apparently oil pump failed. Tranny started having problems again but I don't know if it was for the same engine misfires and problems. So I was wondering if it was better just to get another engine/tranny swap from a 04-06 mdx and just put it in there. Are plugs and ECUcompatible in 01 and 04? or do I have to get a computer too?? I mean if I'm gonna have to spent ~$3000 in an engine and then tranny fails again? wouldn't be better to swap the two? If it is doable how much could it cost? Thanx in advance for your replies!

i hear the 04-06 transmission won't fit in an 01-03. That's why even the replacements fail - they can't replace it with the revised tranny

the 01-03 engine won't let a 04-06 tranny bolt up. BUT i don't see why you doun't be able to swap a 04-06 engine and tranny together into the car. all the engine electronics should be easily adaptable, only thing is the tranny electronics might be slightly different but any one with knowledge on swaps should be able ot get it to work fairly easily.

yes it should work fine. i think with the engine it should be simple. MAYBE the tranny wiring might be slightly different on the 04-06. i think its mainly just the design though.
