2004 MDX Not Starting

First time poster looking to get some advice. Went to start MDX this morning and nothing happened. All electrical (lights, radio, etc.) came on but nothing happens when I turn the key. No clicking, no sound, no anything. Tried jumping just to see with same result.

I've had well known screeching sound with starter for awhile (have had cleaned/greased several times but comes back) and have been delaying replacement.

Any suggestions? Hoping to narrow problem down before I take it anywhere or even try myself if simple enough.

Further compounding problem is I'm working out of town, only have access to some tools, and no local mechanic.

Assuming there are no obvious issue visible under the hood, it may be your starter. I saw this post that has same issue as you which had couple of suggestions.

Car wont start. is not the battery. - FixYa

I've had a battery fry a cell before that could not start a car even with a jump from another vehicle. Basically drove the car to Dunkin Donuts, came back 10 minutes later and no dice.

I still would not rule out the battery.

Can you take it out and bring it to an autozone for a test?

Weak battery is definitely key suspect. You don't say how old it is but get it tested!

If your lights came on but no clicking sound, it's not likely a battery issue. With a near-dead battery you should still hear a slick click and the lights go super dim. Most likely the starter or solenoid. The unlikely option is that it is the ignition switch....but that usually doesn't cause issues until the car is over 10 years old.
