No idea why Acura does that, but yes, you can get the cheaper one and swap covers. For the difference in price, I would.

Tried searching but couldn't find how to remove center dome light cover to get to module. Tried prying the edge but didnt seem like it wanted to come off.

I finally figured it out. I just simply removed 1 of the lights and mirror plastic film thing. And then I yanked out the black centerpiece that will come off and then you unplug the plugs. And then remove the 4 screws. Thats it.

Hi everyone I have a 2006 MDX forgot the code for the HFL 2 years ago dealer wanted $200 to reset it. Took it in for ignition recall yesterday they told me they would reset it for $65. They called me and said HFL unit was bad $600 to replace. My question is if I buy a new HFL unit does it come with a new code or will I still have to go to dealer to have it reset? Thanks for your help!

It's a plug and play operation, and doesn't come with a code.....your existing codes would still work.

Thanks for the reply Tim. The code was changed and forgotten. Do you know if the code will go back to original or will the forgotten one keep me locked out and I will need to go to the dealer to have it reset?

Correct, it can only be reset with the HDS at the dealer...
