Regarding 2005 MDX's, I bought the NAV DVD Ver. 4.92 $99 deal. It appears to me that:
The 4.92 for $99 is a single disc, map update only. The 4.92 for $185 is a 2 disc set with software update disc and map update disc. It works fine, but I had previously installed the software and map updates 4.81. I think it was a $99 waste of money, but at least now I have Telluride and Durango, Colorado city streets. I might need them someday. Yeah, right...

Wait, I was about purchasing this disk and didnt realize there was a two disk option
Do I need the second software upgrade disk? Is paying for the software upgrade worth it? I have a 2004 and have never updated the maps or the software. What have you guys done with the Software disk after updating the system? jasguild |

I have no idea what's going on with these discs. This is a confusing subject.
The MDX came with ver. 4.13D and only had the DVD in the player under the passenger seat. NO other disc with the records or manual. In January, I paid $185 for ver. 4.81, which included 2 discs, a software update and a map update, now selling at eBay here It made a huge difference in Lexington KY where I was visiting my dad. The entire southeast area of Lexington is shown as vacant land on the ver. 4.13. The 4.81 has all the new streets and connector boulevards that were built between 2005 and 2009. Last month, I paid $99 for ver. 4.92, a single disc, which seems to be a map update only, a point I did not realize prior to purchase. I still think it was a waste. I noticed on the NAVTEQ website that a ver. 4.92 two disc set is selling for the customary $185, which must be a software disc and a map disc. The packaging seems to indicate that each disc is year model specific. It will be awhile before I do this update again.

Re: ver. 4.92:
I think this update is probably 95% new housing subdivisions, with any new connector roads, around the listed cities; as was the case going from ver. 4.13 to ver. 4.81. Ver. 4.92 also added few small town's city streets, like Telluride and Durango, Colorado. The list is shown on the NAVTEQ site as to which cities are being updated. If you have ver. 4.81 I do not think ver 4.92 shows much difference, but if you have ver. 4.13 or earlier, it will make a difference, but again it's mostly new subdivisions. I will not update again until I try to go to someplace that is not on the map.

I have a 2004 MDX and I had to replace the battery, I have the security codes to enter into the nav unit but I can't even get that far. I am getting an error message on the screen that says "Check Disc". It isn't even the normal looking screen, its almost like the whole computer unit died. I do have the most current disc. Any ideas?
