Add me to the list. I was getting intermittent heat for a while, then today no heat. Tightened the screw on the valve and now the heat works again. Might just replace the thing when the weather breaks. Anyone replace it?

No Heat in the Front 2004 MDX

I have the same problem, no heat in the front, the rear heat is working fine and the AC is working both in the front and back. The fan blower is working fine also. I just had my thermostat changed also.

I took a look at the heater control valve and it seemed to be moving fine when the tempature was adjusted from hot to cold and vice versa. My question is how much should the control valve move? If it was a clock it was moving from 4 o'clock to 7 o'clock.....should it be moving more? If its not the heater control valve what else could it be?

Good thing its late May and not January.

Thanks in advance

I think you are getting enough movement, but from what I can tell they are breaking on the inside. The lever moves and looks fine, but the valve inside is not.

Best forum ever.
Couple of turns and she is working perfectly.
The wife needs the X next week. From those who tried, how permanent is the fix? Is the tread lock on a long term fix? Need to replace the valve?
TIA

Mine has needed tightened several times to keep it working. I bought a new one for $12, plan to get it in before winter.

On the firewall on the passenger's side, there is a pic in post #10 of this thread.

If you're having trouble locating the valve, on my mdx it is not so visible. There is a hose running right over the top of it.

I got the same issue

hey guys, 06 mdx, 140k miles, heat in the front is not working, just blows cold air like the others, just curious if anyone has bought this control valve and replaced it on their own? how difficult it it to locate and replace this puppy?

I used a quality #2 phillips head and cranked down the valve stem screw on the hot water control valve. It turned maybe 1 full turn, but it did the trick! Luckily the screw was not stripped like yours, so I'm hopeful this fix will hold. The odd thing was that my hot water control valve and control cable looked to be in slightly different locations than shown in the posted photo. Nevertheless, the fix worked and I'm greatful for you sharing your experience - saved me some $$$!

With basic tools and about 20min it took me. Mine was moving but the valve was messed up inside so internally it wasn't opening.
