Hey phins2rt.
It's been a long time since I've been on here and Happy New Year to you. I remember you, Wayne Gerdes and I trading info about our cars. I do remember talking about keeping cars for 10 years. We waited closer to 11 years before trading our '97 CR-V (110k miles) in for my '08 Accord so we won't be replacing the MDX until maybe this fall. I'm waiting for the redesigned Pilot but that may be a year from this August. No issues with the MDX beyond the normal wear and tear and thankfully no transmission issues. I had the timing belt/water pump done in March 2010 so don't expect major bills with it anytime soon. Quote:

There was a two year gap between the arrival of the current gen X and Pilot. I would expect the same gap again

Get your transmission to radiator hose replaced by 90K miles. Some MDX years (04-06) may have a hose breakdown leading to transmission and radiator failure. Will be very costly $3500 Trans Shop to $6000 Dealer to repair.

Most people I talk to never believe that mines a 2002! Thats why I never say the year hehe. Seriously, the designs of the mdx look very current, IMO

Who has the most miles?
They haven't change styling significantly . That's why they still look good!

Warzau! Still have my 02 after 11 years. Actually, best value for a car that I've ever had due to the fact that it's rarely been in the shop (knock on wood).

Don't jinx yourself. Mine is acting up again!
actually spoke to Tim and got his opinion, it's time for another car. I'm actually sad, if it wasn't for the Trans I would prob keep it for another 5-6 years. Then again 11 years is my time limit for holding onto a car. Like you I haven't had a major issue with the MDX other than the trans. But the cost to fix when the trans does go, would be more than I would want to spend. I might do a flush refill, later on when the weather gets warmer.
